Emmanuel-Thomas a no go

Arsenal midfielder/attacker Jay Emmanuel-Thomas will not be joining Pompey.

Weekend 'reports', added to some 'word on the street' info, were saying that PFC were in for the 20-year-old.

Steve Cotterill, as he told The News, says we have not bid for him nor are we interested in him: 'we haven't put in a bid for him. There is absolutely no truth in that whatsoever.

'He's not a player who has been on our radar at all this year.

'I have no idea where that has come from. Maybe he is going somewhere else and the agent is trying to drum up interest. But there is no interest from us.'

That seems to be a pretty resounding no then from Cotterill!

Far be it from me to dispute what the manager has said but I am not so sure that we were 'not interest' in him; more a case of we did not get him...

Ah well, hey ho. To be honest, whilst I could see the clear benefits from bringing him in, there appears to be some baggage with him so it might not be a bad thing we are not signing him?

Burnley or Ipswich, who seem 'favourites', will now bring him in for £1m apparently...

Another Thomas, and no real surprises really, that will not sign for us is recent trialist Shavar Thomas.

We have enough 'nice lads' and 'good players as it is' so it was decided we did not need another.

The club is busy actively trying to bring in players though so all being well by the time we face Betis on Saturday we will have a new signing or two in the mix to feature, well at least signed...

Wasn't particularly convinced by this rumour, so can't say that I'm at all surprised that he won't be coming. Could be a blessing in disguise.
