Leacock the latest defender 'linked'

I think that a lot of us would argue 'do we really need another central defender?'

If we think we do or not would seem irrelevant as Steve Cotterill seems hell-bent on bringing in another anyway...

We have the Jamaican guy on trial with us in the US of A and another that sky sports 'understands' we want is Derby's Darren Leacock.

By all accounts he wants out and he does not 'figure in Nigel Clough's long-term plans' anyway so he is available.

Sky say: 'Derby are willing to offload the former Fulham man and are open to offers for the player.

'The news has alerted Championship rivals Forest and Portsmouth as they are both keen to bolster their defensive options this summer.
'

The guy is not a bad defender but I can only assume that we are still looking to offload Aaron Mokoena as I really cannot see why we are so keen on another defender otherwise?

Yep in an ideal world I guess it would be nice to maybe bring in one more but other areas are more of a priority for me.

Of course what sky sports 'understands' and what actually happen are more often than not completely different things anyway so are we actually in for Leacock anyway?

That said other media outlets are now picking up on this 'rumour' too...

Perhaps it is better to bring in defenders who want to play for the club because Moko and Ben Haim may be sold in January, if they will be remain at Fratton Park for the first half of the season.
