Pompey bid £2m plus for Paterson?

Pompey bid £2m plus for Paterson?

Steve Cotterill has targeted bringing in a couple of strikers before the transfer window closes and sky sports 'understands' that we have 'lodged' a decent sized money offer for one target...

We 'seem' to be showing no let-up in our attempts to sign Martin Paterson, and it is the Burnley man that they say we have made our move for.

The report said: 'it is believed that Portsmouth have made an offer in excess of £2million and Burnley are now considering their options.

'The 24-year-old is believed to be part of Eddie Howe's plans at Turf Moor - but the offer may be too good to turn down.

'Steve Cotterill will now be hoping to conclude a deal for the former Scunthorpe man.'

That kind of money, assuming it is true, may well be too good to refused...

I know the guy is a decent footballer - especially at this level - but I still have my reservations about him because I think that kind of money for someone who has had injury problems like him in recent years is a bit of a risk, but there you go!

Has Cotterill finally found the striker he has been after, and could sky sports 'understand' this right?

I still think it's amazing how they can turn a rumour into actual news by using the word "Understands". We've spent too long chasing Paterson, and this has to be our final offer. Seems like a lot of money to be splashing out.

I read somewhere we had a 5m war chest. Spending half of it on one player sounds daft, but, we only need another 5 players. One will come on loan from Chelsea (hopefully), so we will still have around 2m to spend on three players, and thats if we didn't get some more loans, which we probably will.

Crazy money for an injury prone player. Must be mad!

hmm to be fair the guys only had 2 real injuries so calling him injury prone might be a little rash and he is only 24 and we know he can cut it at this level so yes it might be a little much but promising young strikers are always expensive and SC knows all about the guy from his time at Burnley and obviously rates him so i'll trust him on this

Hartlepool (a) - Safety first!

A win at Wimbledon made sure of a play-offs place. Technically we can finish in the top 3 but this would require an unlikely set of results from too many clubs wouldn't it?
