'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What are we lacking?

I think it is still abundantly clear for us all that we are still some 4-6 players light.

Without a doubt things with PFC are improving, all manor of things at this club are better now and seemingly have been since CSI's arrival.

We can safely say that the squad is in much better shape than it was 12-months ago at this stage.

Still, we need more though...

For me Steve Cotterill has 'perhaps' been premature in his ruling out of anymore free agent signings. No club, regardless of their riches, would turn down a freebie - in some ways I get where he is coming from, given his reasoning, but still think that there could be at least one out there that is within our grasp and good enough as a squad player at least.

Splashing the cash in not what I want to see but bringing our permanent numbers up to 18 or so before we look to the loan market is the way I hope we go.

So, what do I think we need?

I would say, and this is my own opinion of course, the following...

* A left back and right back - at a push a versatile full back that could play on either flank.
* We are pretty stocked, but assuming Moko goes then another central defender would not go amiss.
* Again we have decent numbers but another central midfielder would be handy.
* Wide right in the attacking area is something we need.
* A striker, a central striker at that is essential. Varney will play wide so Kitson and Kanu is never enough.

In this far from ideal world if these arrivals, in the areas I think we need them, could be permanent squad signings it would be fantastic!

I'd say a central midfileder (playmaker), 2 wingers (right and left)and a striker... I think the defence is okay as we have lots of players who can play there in more than one position, but if Moks goes we need another one....

It's odd, I was looking on the BBC website this morning and I think they need to do a bit of updating to our current squad, apparently Steve Finnan still plays for us, so no need for a right-back.

I think, if we were really desperate and only had 3 players to bring in, I'd take any full back, a speedy winger and an out-and-out striker. I think we have plenty of cover for CB's, and Halford & TBH & Hermann & Ward can cover the wings if push comes to shove, but ideally 1 more would be nice to allow Halford to play CB, Ward to play more advanced and Hermann to have a rest. We definately need another winger, especially if Lawrence's injury keeps coming back to haunt us, and there is no need to explain why we need a striker.

Rug, SC never ruled out anymore free's all he said is that most of the decent 1's that we can afford have been taken so he doubted there'd be anymore, theres a huge difference. But as for arrivals i think your about right 2 full backs, 2 wingers and a proper striker that'll get 20+ goals and we're laughing

Quite simply PACE and GOALS. We dont have any real pace in the team, as good as I think Norris will be for us he doesnt have pace, Kitson, no pace, defenders, no pace, Lawrence, no pace, it goes on and on.

Yeah, Varney's well slow...

We need a natural left midfielder, who can be a left winger (advanced role) and another midfielder, possibly an attacking midfielder. A versatile defender is also needed.

basically we need one more of evrything but since thats not likely to happen more depth in the midfield and stike force. Prefereably players with a bit of speed and less injury prone than what we have got or what we have bought. simples

i agree we definately need some pace and a genuine 20 goal a season striker and some fit players in midfield who arewn't going to pick up annoying little niggles throughout the season
