'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Three To Sign By Friday?

Despite the recent acquisition of Portsmouth Football club by Russian billionaire Alexandre Gaydamak. The fanatical supporters of Portsmouth Football Club, often dubbed, `best supporters in the land` by football commentators from all sides, still await their first real signing of the new season. The only signing thus far is the on-loan Chelsea full-back Glen Johnson. The wheeler dealer of Harry Redknapp is either keeping his cards very close to his chest or he has lost his Midas touch.

The transfer speculation surrounding Portsmouth has often reached fever pitch in the last few weeks, names such as Sol Campbell, Nicola Anelka plus many more have been doing the rounds. However, no one seems to be signing. It has been noted that Redknapp keeps prospective signings well away from many of Portsmouths facilities such as the training ground before they put pen to paper as not to put them off. It also may follow that if one big name signs, many will other so called big names will soon follow.

My prediction is that we should not underestimate the genius of Redknapp, he has far too many contacts in the game and with Gaydamaks money - what reason do we have to doubt?

By w/e Friday July 28th I believe we will see at least three top players signing along the dotted line.

I hope that you are right, we must be close to at least signing. I felt we'd have had one signed by the end of last week, but that failed to happen didn't it, and we know why. I think the same as you, one will lead to another, and another and so on.

A bold statement. I hope you're right, then we can see the 3 of them at Bournemouth on saturday!

I predict a riot! come on Vital, lets not write for the sake of it!
danonash
wot? i don't think we will sign 3 before the start of the season let alone friday
lmatthews
Alan Shearer, Wayne Bridge and Rory Delap - all signing this weekend - Scumthing for the weekend down at Pompey.

I think we are being shrewd and will wait until we can get the right player for the right price. Rushing in for an expensive has been or an unknown is risky business. Patience is a virtue and I think Pompey supporters have learnt from history that that is what it will take. As for the Cat, he probably follows Sunderland (no wonder he doesn't like you).

I'll be worried only when it's 5 minutes before transfer deadline close. Harry's got all the choice in the world now, if he get's in trouble he can always bring in a few top class "rejects" like's he's always managed to do - think of D'Alessandro from the last transfer deadline !

This is deja vous, I remember an article I think by Les which had a couple signing by the end of the week a month or so back. Who are the suspects this time?
TeddyLyon

We need players in fast and its getting worrying to see all the player we been linked with dont want 2 come. Like anelka he wants 2 wait for a bigger club 2 come in 4 him so thats y he is delaying his transfer. come on harry and peter storie WE NEED PLAYERS IN
playuppompey14
"Petrov in by the weekend, hopefully" Mandaric is quoted as saying, so there is one of the three players in by the close of play this week! The times reckon Geremi and Distin, so that's all three, but the Daily Mirror also say Scott Carson, so that would be four... but will they all sign by the end of the week... will any?
pompeyrug
Is there any danger of this site emplolying someone who can write in English? I thought Les was bad enouhgh.. "My prediction is that we should not underestimate the genius" FFS, so bizarre it's almost genius.

Trouble is, we've now got money to spend, so don't need to rely on one or two certain agents (och aye) with brown envelopes in their pockets. Makes it a tad more difficult.
