Hermann signs and more to follow.

The merry go round is in full swing at Fratton Park with players signing on for the Pompey roadshow.

Already this week we have had the arrival of Luke Varney and Stephen Henderson - subject to a compensation settlement with Bristol City and today Hermann Hreidarsson has agreed a new one year deal.

Hermann, a really popular player with fans will be thirty seven this month but is seen by manager Steve Cotterill as an important part of his plans for the 2011/12 season probably for the passion he brings to the team and also for the attitude he showed by getting over a serious achiles injury. Hermann is of course the last survivor of the cup winning side - although of course Jamie Ashdown was an unused substitute.*

It seems as though the next signing will be Greg Halford from Wolves for a fee of 800,000 rising to 1m based on appearances etc. Rumour has it that deal will be announced early next week.

With his defence strengthening well underway it is expected that SC will turn his attentions to Burnley`s Northern Ireland striker Martin Patterson with Jason Puncheon among other reported targets.

It seems that quietly the CSI revolution is sweeping across Fratton Park and the squad is now beginning to take some shape before the Chelsea game next week followed by the trip to Charleston, South Carolina. Now that is something we all wanted to happen.

*Glad you all spotted by deliberate mistake!!

Great to see Hermann pen a new deal .. an old head (on very old legs) but as he showed at the end of last season he's no mug when it comes to defending. Have exactly the same info as you on Halford (as mentioned in last nights 'Chew The Fat'..) so that's great news too .. Players in .. Academy staff in place.. training ground pitches sorted .. whatever next .. This is Pompey innit mush ?

"This is Pompey innit mush"......it certainly is. Long live the positive vibes.

Great news. HH is a proper passionate trouble maker, just what we need for the local derby's to come. Halford is also good news. I think SC looks like he is going to be playing 8 across the back at this rate.

p.s. Dave - I know your not one for getting your facts wrong, but I still belive there is another Cup Winner in the team. One that was, I would say, important in the final and played a key role.

I think sneaky is talking about a certain Kanu! :)

Feels good to be a Pompey fan again, just seen a site called here is the city has us finishing 4th bottom next season! Not a chance!
paultsmouth
i can't see us finishing 4th from bottom i honestly believe that mid table at the very worst especially seeing we finished mid table last season
pompey4ever
Good to see fans a positively energised - so its up to me to bring in some misery. I suspect the fans might be a bit disappointed in the reality of the upcoming season but as long as most of us accept that upper mid table finish is a good place to finish then it's progress.
russellm
as long as we do even slightly better than last season i'll be happy cos as you say russell its progress. with the players we're bringing in we're shaping up 2 be a good squad. hopefully we'll bring in a couple more permanant deals and then some loans
pompey4ever
I shan't be disappointed if we finish just a bit higher than last season. Just hoping we don't get a repeat of some of those dreadful games we had last year.
