Ashdown's competition found?

Social networking sites are becoming more and more commonly used by people in all walks of life to 'announce things' and it 'could' be that the use of Twitter, to announce a player was possibly coming to PFC, may well prove true?

Bristol City keeper Stephen Henderson is 'apparently' on his way to the club...

It was on Twitter that I first noticed talk of this - I think the guy who mentioned this said that they were his uncle (perhaps the same uncle that used to play for Preston) or something? - and now The News have picked this up too.

The 23-year-old is out-of-contract with Bristol City so is a free agent and seems destined to leave in search of 1st team football, although compensation would be paid for him.

So, could Henderson be the man to challenge Paddy for the no.1 spot in the upcoming season?

I guess the next few days will tell...

Not a bad choice if it is correct

I don't think he will be competition for Ashdown, but i think he will be a good enough back up keeper if anything happens to Jamie.

Aren't 2 keepers a little too many? We surely need another one... maybe a young one who is ready to be 3rd choice, or maybe a goalkeeper who comes from a small football country and is just happy to be 'playing' in the Championship!

i think that 2 keepers would be plenty tbh Malta, especially given the fact that we need players in a variety of areas for the starting 11 let alone the squad - looking to bring in the luxuray of a 3rd keeper would be way too many...
i do understand what you are saying tho, but surely an academy keeper, at a push, can be the 3rd or back-up in an emergency. w also have to remember that a keeper can be signed on an emergency loan at anytime in a, well, emergency.

i don't really know enough about him but we do need another keeper that'll challenge ashdown and keep him on his toes

Ashdowne very very ordinary keeper, and physically too short and too nervy, needs to be replaced

If we only have two keepers then I would hope the second would be a genuine starter not a back up, if you look at Jammie he is not the best, so I would hope Henderson is at least the same level, still very young for a keeper, so could be even better in the future, 3 would be ideal, emergency is not what you would want in the case of injury you have no keeper on the bench, & depends on who would be availlible, keeper is underrated position by most, this is a professional game you can't just say "stick the fat kid in goal he can't run anyway" Lol!

3rd choice at a simular side, two behind jamo, out of three ..one behind Jamie out of two ( Jamo's previous No2)...that is about the same isn't it?

Henderson is still young and has the potential to be first choice in the near future, so I would see him as a good signing. Although I do agree with Malta, what are we doing buying a keeper? We already have 1 and we're not allowed to put another one on the field! Sod it, 1 is enough, and if something happens with him we'll stick Kanu in goal.
