'If It's Football, It's Vital'

100% official - Norris has signed

Its been 'unofficial official' for some months now, certainly weeks since Steve Cotterill told The News as much, but official confirmation that an arrival is now here has come today.

This afternoon The Pompey Site confirmed that 'Chuck' has signed on a free.

Finally being 'done and dusted' is something that he was happy to have had done: 'I'm delighted it's finally done and dusted. I spoke to the manager back in January, and we've been in touch and I`m happy to be here.

'Portsmouth seems to be everyone's favourite neutral team - everyone seems to like to see Pompey do well, especially with the troubles they've had.'

It seems that Cotterill has basically 'stalked him!'

Although this stalking paid off as this helped convince him to come to Fratton: 'the manager was one of the main reasons I chose Portsmouth.

'He persevered in coming to get me, he kept me in the loop the whole time and he really sold the club to me.

'He's got a lot of ambition and I wanted to be a part of that. Once I spoke to the manager I was more than happy to come here and play for a great club like this.'

The 30-year-old has signed a 3-year contract so, in theory at least, will to all intend and purpose end his career at Pompey - well, as I say, in theory anyway...

Another factor, as is the case with so many, in his arrival at PFC was the fantastic support that we have: 'I've heard a lot about the fans, who are brilliant.

'When I played here last season with Ipswich we drew 0-0 but I remember the way the fans got behind Pompey.

'They were right behind the team - and it was the same when I saw the game against Norwich on TV.

'Portsmouth had nothing to play for in that they couldn't get relegated or make the play-offs, but you could still hear the crowd getting behind the team and that really stuck in my mind.'

Welcome to Pompey Chuck.

Its good to have him here as he will without doubt add something to our midfield that we have missed for sometime, among things a genuine goalscoring threat from this area.

Besides his footballing ability he also of course offers up fine leadership qualities and is the man I 'think' will be named as our captain for the season ahead.

Now we need to see a few more arriving, and pretty soon...

Not quite a saga but somewhat of an ordeal, glad to finally get him in and I agree that he'll be wearing the armband against Boro in 5 weeks from now.
