'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Whittingham/Varney/Patterson and Flahavan

Whenever I am away from my computer for a prolonged period of time I do not like missing out on anything going on in the PFC world.

Ok, admittedly in recent times there has not been much risk of missing anything, well positive anyway, although you would 'hope' that over the course of the next week or so things could happen quite quickly and dare I say you actually believe that they might!

So being away from my computer today for so long was a concern, but I need not have feared because as I gorged myself at Buffet City (an all you can eat Chinese restaurant in Exeter), a monthly tradition that my fiancée, does not seem strange saying that any longer, Trina and I have with my folks, nothing much really happened...

I say nothing much really happened, but having said that perhaps this speaks volumes?

With little seemingly happening it would 'appear' that these days it actually means things are going on!?

Whilst it has been a quiet(ish) day it would seem things have been moving on further with Luke Varney. 'Word on the street' has it that his people and our people met up and a deal is very nearly done, if not done. This is something that both sky sports and BBC now seem to think is the case.

One player that does not look likely to come to Fratton is Martin Paterson. A bid has been rejected, and an improved bid by all accounts. Again 'word on the street' seems to suggest that a new bid with a revised payment approach was made, perhaps to counter balance the fears over his fitness?

Either way we look as though we are certainly going to bring in one striker this week...

Peter Whittingham is a name that will be very familiar with plenty of people as the guy has been around for some time. He featured for Villa back along and has done a pretty decent job with Cardiff in the nopower. Whispers have been 'linking' him with PFC and these links today are saying that a £1.5m offer may be made to Cardiff?

No 'word on the street' on this one mind!

Finally one of the players that we released this summer has found himself a new home. Darryl Flahavan has been signed up by Bournemouth on a 1-year contract. Good luck to the guy, quite how good he is will never really be known to us and the sentimental part of me is disappointed that he never got the chance to pull on the keepers shirt at all during his time at Fratton, but hey ho.

So, in a nutshell this is just about all that has happened in the last 12-24-hours or so...

Good Luck Flavo! Fingers crossed Whittingham is coming down to Fratton. What a force we'd be if we had him and Lawrence on either flank, Norris, Mullins and Ward in the middle and Varney up front! Nice! PuP

It's nice to have footie stuff and transfer gossip going on rather than the doom and gloom. Whittingham would be a great buy, but are there not cheaper alternatives available?

I just want to know what street Rug gets his info from!

I wasnt that bothered about Peter Whittingham coming but now i think he might be able to do something along side Dainty Kitten; just can't see how Cardiff who have let most of their strikers go can let this move happen?

Busy day indeed! Let's hope of a big announcement before the weekend.

I think Rug often meets his sources at the junction between Pessimistic Row and Optimistic Avenue (On) I am pleased with the quality of links we have had ..I liked Paterson and Varney from what i had seen on TV..Halford and Hogg to join I reckon plus a complete left fielder-Lua Lua to return maybe...40/1 to win the league, or 12/1 to go up...I HAVE A GOOD FEELING ABOUT THIS YEAR.. but..listen to this- Watch out for Derby County, that may be my bet
