The floodgates set to open?

I think we all pretty much agree we need to sign 10-12 players, 8 absolute minimum, this summer.

'If' others depart, as we 'think' or even 'hope' that they might, then the higher end of the predicted arrivals would be needed - the bonus to some others departing could potentially be that the wages we saved on them could be spread around 2, maybe 3, other players and it is more than possible we would still have some money left over too!

'Chuck' Norris is virtually 100% all but in, Jason Pearce is 100% officially in and it is 'believed' that Luke Varney will soon be signed too, another - like Pearce - with a fee involved...

With those players out-of-contract 'officially' confirmed as seeing their contracts end this week a common thought is that 'free transfer' arrivals will then be confirmed as well?

Friday, by my reckoning, is when we hit July 1st - so Chuck will be officially confirmed but will he be the only free agent we snap up?

Will the floodgates finally burst wide open by this weeks end...

I hope that we resign HH before Friday, and perhaps look at bringing back Halford as well. Could well be a very interesting week.

The interesting one I think will be Richard Hughes. There has been no reported interest so will he accept the revised terms offered or have they been withdrawn?

Has to be a busy week though surely!

Could indeed Sneakay .. the Mirror are reporting Burnleys Martin Paeeterson too as I've read on another site .. but as they said .. 'Can you beleive the Mirror' .. still ...botom line is that none of us have a clue .. and for one who nornally gets a sniff.. I'm getting nothing .. just the same old recycled tittle tattle that we've had all summer... It's all quiet at Fratton .. but let's hope this week see some action..

i would like to see a wide player/winger come in to replace loanee coterill. im not convinced about Halford, did well last few games but too slow and touch to poor for full back, and gets caught square all the time at cb. Loan maybe but buy, no thanks. If Varney and patterson are gospel then one more forward, would be handy, young up and coming, le fondre ? and we definately need a playmaker in midfield, maybe an old head for a season or two.

Not sure about Halford, he ain't that great and it's clear he only wants Pompey as a last resort.

Chix, the mirror got Norris and Pearce before the others; so it is no less believable. We only think the daily mail is ahead of the rest cos it allows it's stories on newsnow.

is he good enough for the championship still ? No for me, but Brown? a definate yes

I wouldn't want Hughes back, he clearly doesn't want to play for us unless nobody else will have him. Halford however I think is a great talent, and would happily take him back, even if we aren't his first choice.

A goal in the FA cup.... sums up the contribution of Hughes for almost a decade. Pompey have been stupidly loyal to him and he returns the favor by holding the club to ransom. All this considering he is S***e. Paul Merson even ripped him to shreds on live TV. We can do better. Hughes is certainly no better than Kilbey and the other released youths. I would be sad to see him in blue again.

One thing to remember and IS CERTAIN...We have to get bodies in! just dont understand people saying "IF"...We have no choice!...We dont have a team let alone squad....
