Its official! Pearce has signed

It is no longer 'rumour', 'speculation' or the dreaded 'sky sports understands'; it is now 100% official.

Jason Pearce has returned to Pompey.

A 3-year contract, for an undisclosed amount, has seen the 23-year-old come back to Fratton today.

Steve Cotterill has already praised the defender on The Pompey Site and Pearce is more than happy to be back: 'when the opportunity arose to come back to Pompey I was delighted. I was here as a young lad but didn't get the opportunity to play first-team football - that's why I left for Bournemouth.

'I trained under Harry Redknapp and met some nice people - I've got some great memories of my first time here.

'But now I've shown what I can do and hopefully I can continue to do that back at Pompey.'

With the Pompey interest there was no other club for him. He also says that Cotterill has sold him a good vision for the future and he is 'buzzing': 'the manager's a really good guy. I'm sure I'll get to know him a bit better over the pre-season. His plans and ambitions for the club sound really good.

'Now I can't wait to get out there on the pitch and play with all the lads - I'm buzzing.

'It'll be amazing to play at a packed Fratton Park - something I've dreamed of. The fans are amazing here and still get behind you even when you're not doing so well.'

Welcome back to PFC Jason. I look forward to seeing what you can do as I suspect he has been signed to be part of the starting 11 and is not merely 'making up the numbers'.

A pairing with Rocha John Rocha is one I can see working well.

So, 100% confirmed signing no.1 is here - of course 'Chuck' Norris will officially come in next week too.

The wheels are in motion, lets hope they keep turning eh...

So first 'official' signing is out the way, I'd like to say I called this a few weeks ago when the whole 50% dispute topic arose, but when I said we should sign him, it was more in jest than expectation, but we've got him now and hopefully he'll prove to be a handy investment. Kudos to whoever wrote up that contract when we sold him.

its refreshing too know we could have two boys adn fans on the pitch this season !!! when was the last time that happened ! at least we know he will give his all and put his head on the line for us ! hopefully in a few years time he could become a better player and a future pompey captain in the making!

I know Cotterill's treatment of youth players has been questionable to say the least, but this is one of his own signings, so I think he will be given every chance.

intresting that he is a left side centre half wonder if he can play left back ! that mite be the thinking of cotts ! and hopefully herminators still hear could learn alot from him ! he started as a centre half..

It is great to hear that we finally have a permenant signing, but we still have a very long way to go before we have a viable squad, Time will tell! (yes feeling a little pesamistic today)
