Anelka Deal Gets Close As HR Gambles

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he is willing to bring Anelka to Portsmouth as the two clubs get closer to agreeing a deal.

'People have told me I would be mad to sign him, but I like Anelka because he's a real talent,' Redknapp is quoted in The Daily Express.

'I had the same problem when I took Di Canio at West Ham. Everyone said I must be off my head, but he ended up being a legend at West Ham.

'Anelka is on another level. You have to take a few chances in this game and he is well worth the gamble.

'I can't say everyone will agree with me about him, but that is my opinion and I will take the blame if I am wrong.'

Anelka has said that he would give 100% if he joined Portsmouth. Is it possible that Anelka could be Lua Lua`s replacement? I`m receiving news this morning that Lua may join Tottenham in a player plus cash deal (more on that to follow)

I'm sticking with my opinion of giving Anelka a go, if people could accept Harry returning then they can accept Anelka, you all know that if he signs when he is banging the goals in next season he'll be loved... As he says himself, look what he managed to do with Di Canio

Any news on who the player is in this deal?

i would really love Anelka here, he should be at his best now at the age of 27 and i really think he will get the goals for us, i would also let Lualua go in a player plus cash deal depending on the player. Hopefully they offer Defoe and 15m lol, or we could try offering cash with Lualua for Defoe?

I still say he's just fishing for a bigger club, of course I would be happy if he eventually plumped for us (as long as he gives 100%)....

Defoe for LuaLua in a straight swap more than fair LOL. Obviously Defoe has been a target for Redknapp so cash plus LuaLua could be an option? Surely it can't be Spurs offering us cash plus a player for LuaLua??? There aren't many that Spurs would let go we'd maybe want are there? It could be Davenport, but would he really be that much of an improvement in defence? Maybe Reid or Routledge? Only time will tell...

hmmm. I really hope that if Anelka comes to Fratton Park that it works out, and he becomes a legend like Di Canio as Harry says. I have reservations though. Think he might go back to the "Le Sulk" of old once the honeymoon period is over.

Carrick & cash maybe? As Anelka if he didn't have the baggage we wouldn't be even this close to signing him.

I'll believe it once I see Anelka in the Pompey shirt on the OS until then it's just media hype

Do you really want Anelka !!!!!!!!!!! Le Sulk will only let you down when the going gets tough, as for nicking any Spurs players forget it you already have enough and were not planning to let any more go COYS

Anelka would be a good signing I think. Redknapp can bring the best out in nearly everyone, except old fatty mbesuma. I think people were too quick to judge Anelka at his old clubs. He is only human and his mood swings are probably because he never felt incerdibly welcome. I think we should give him a chance. But whats this about the spurs deal for lua lua? Is it lua lua plus cash for another player, cash and a player for lua lua. The later I can't see probable. Could you confirm this for us les. We are baffled by the story so far. Cheers mate.

I think it will be a gr8 signing if we would get Anelka, if lua go's we should go 4 someone like defoe or even harewood. We also need someone like Barry or Petrov with a good left peg, distan would also be a gr8 signing,

You don't get many better left pegs than Matty Taylor, his right aint bad either! Although I hear what you are saying as regards to Barry, he does have quality doesn't he.

Villa won't let Barry go. Anelka will last one season only and then he will be off into the blue yonder.
