Konchesky 'linked' again

It was no secret that Paul Konchesky was a 'transfer target' last season, in January I think?

He opted for a loan move to Forest instead in the end.

Well, the 'links' to the 30-year-old have returned...

According to The Mail Konchesky does want to come to Fratton this time around and should this happen he would come in on a season long loan from Liverpool.

'Competition' for the former England man would come from Wolves so the lure of staying in the premier league could do it for him?

By all accounts this, and not simply because we have been linked before, is a 'rumour' that could well have some legs though.

What do you think guys, do you think that (a) Konchesky could come in on loan and (b) would you be happy for him to do so?

Leave some thoughts below...

Forest don't want him back then? I don't think that we can afford to be fussy as long as we are not breaking the wage structure (?) for him.

Would rather pay them sort of wages too a loan player who who change a game with goals or assists. Attacking player.

At this time Pompey should not break the wage structure- what ever that now is- Konchesky can have a positive affect on the midfield and back line; although PK isn't ammune to rash tackles. If he does join i hope the next player in is a little younger. We won't have a big squad and I dont want to hear Cott moaning they are all tired.

Well Russ we have been linked with Thomas Cruise the young Arsenal left back that just got released, and tbh i'd rather have him then PK just cause of age and wages. Plus the Gooners fans i've talked to seemed to think he was pretty good, so would be worth a punt imo

konchesky would b a great signing but if he opts 4 wolves then maybe we could get greg halford back. even better would be gettin both but seriously doubt that would happen. that thomas cruise does look a decent player and seeing he would b free would certainly b worth a punt as he probably wouldn't ask 4 silly wages. what we really need tho is a goalie 2 give ashdown some competition

I personally am not the disciple of Halford that some are, he's got a long throw, gets caught out if position, he can head the ball, his defensive positioning is not great, he's good going forward, he can't make a tackle back, he's scored a couple of crucial goals, he's been responsible for a few going in. It's a mixed bag with this player and I'm not surprised miserable McCarthy doesn't really want him. There is a role for Halford but to my simple mind not at any cost. In terms of finance Pompey can't compete with Molyneaux so it really depends on what can be offered as incentive by Pompey; home in Bromsgove or Port Solent.

wages would be a problem, just think we had to pay stoke £14,000 p/w for sonko - god knows what we would have to pay liverpool for konchesky is a loan deal!

Pompey4wotevar, I agree, I'd like to see another keeper in let's be honest on balance Jamie is very average. . . M@, I've seen him on sky in an under 21 tournament and yea cruise could be an answer- one big issue- how will he understand Cot's yocal ascent? ooweooor
russellm
hi pompeyrug thanks 4 the welcome. yeah i live in ivybridge i've been here since '92. russellm yeah i completely agree he is very average he has made some very good saves but also a lot of mistakes. cotts needs 2 talk 2 some of the out of contract goalies cos theres some good ones available. yocal accents r well hard 2 understand i live in devon and still have trouble understanding the local dialect! lol
