Carling Cup: Pompey Play Barnet

Carling Cup: Pompey Play Barnet

Pompey have been drawn against ...

Barnet at Fratton Park

Yep .. The draw has been made and League Two side Barent will visit Fratton Park week commencing 8th August.

Let's hope we can secure a result similar to the last and only meeting between the two clubs.

In 1991 Pompey took on Barnet in a 3rd Round FA Cup Tie and Frank Burrows team consisting of Hat-trick hero Guy Whittingham stormed to a 5-0 victory... Other scorers were Aspinall & Colin 'Scummer' Clarke

A very nice draw, if we have any squad players, this might be an opportunity to play them, although I can't imagine the first teamers being too tired after 1 match.

Very pleased that it's a home tie and its another team to tick off the list. Hopefully we have a good enough team to play them.

Barnet have never played at Fratton Park - and I have never seen us play 'em. So better start saving the pennies, take it it will be cheap Mr Lampitt?

This one is probably the easiest game we will be playing under the CSI regime, for how long that may be! Bees struggled all season to play football, but only managed to survive league football on the last day... O'Brien was dropped for the last part of the season as he fell out of favour... that may give SC some credit perhaps; if he isn't good enough to play at the very bottom of league 2, he is never going to make in the Championship!

Sorry malta he was not dropped. he broke 2 fingers, but played against bury and aldershot with splints when walker was suspended. Now the no1 at bees, with an extended contract at 19. thanks chix, be a good night, looking for a half amber and half blue shirt..lol..enjoy spain, maybe a sky game ?

An unexpected visitor

Pompey's Burgess was clearly at a loose end when the game at Crawley was postponed. That much was initially obviously with the level of desire to be involved in footie later revealed.

Cook - no need for a prolific marksman

Cook has said Pompey's lack of a 25 goal striker - I still think we have one - isn't going to impact on our promotion chances. I can see both sides of Cookie's opinion here to be fair.
