Cotts confirms American pre-season tour

Cotts confirms American pre-season tour

Would it, would it not?

Going back to America for another pre-season tour is what I mean by this.

A return stateside, after one of the worst pre-seasons known to any club in the history of football, had seemingly been in doubt and an alternative venue in Europe a possibility sought. A pre-season actually taking place in England, something I know so many people wanted, was also mentioned.

America it is though...

Steve Cotterill has today confirmed, telling The News, that this has been sorted out and we are off to America for a couple of weeks, only 2 flights this time as opposed to something like 8 in 14-days last year!

The squad, whatever this will be, will fly out the day after we face Chelski at Fratton in mid July.

To be honest I am somewhat disappointed that we have once again opted to go overseas for our pre-season but what can you do eh! 'If' this is genuinely in the best interests of the club then I can understand it more, it certainly is not in the interests of the fans though is it!

I am most disappointed that once again though news of this stature has not been made available to fans on The Pompey Site first and foremost, and at the point of publishing this article there is still no news on this officially.

The official site seems to be becoming more and more redundant these days...

Have to agree that it is a shame that it wasn't announced first on the OS. I can understand them not responding to internet and tabloid stories on there, but when it comes to factual things like fixtures and squad members, the site should be a definitive reference point. I guess that money has talked when it comes to a training camp location for what will hopefully be the nucleus of a new team.

Ah! America... again. Do we have that sort of money to fly America after all?

Evans - Right back or right midfield?

Drew Talbot and Adam Buxton are fit but Gareth Evans continues to fill in at right back. Should this change? If so where would it leave the battle between Evans and Carl Baker?
