Will Spurs deal with us?

Will Spurs deal with us?

The 'rumours' seem to be slowing down now, if this a good or bad thing - is this a calm before the storm or will the storm come as more time passes and few arrive?!

One thing that we do know if that Steve Cotterill does need to make signings and CSI need to allow him to do so!

We also know that he was at the England U21 friendly with Norway at the weekend.

What we do not know is who was he 'casting his eye' over?

The Sun 'claims' this to be Danny Rose...

Now this would not be a surprise, we tried to bring him in last season before he joined Bristol City on loan - eventually returning to Spurs and, maybe surprisingly, ending the season in the Spurs side.

Its 'said' that we want to bring him in on loan this season?

Yep, I would happily have Rose come to Pompey on loan, we could use him at left back or in midfield and he has enough quality about him to be more than successful - get it done and bring him in!

The major problem with bringing Rose to Fratton is I cannot see Spurs dealing with us...

Remember the whole Asmir Begovic saga!

This has rumbled on and on for ages and some 'harsh' words exchanged about exactly what the score is with this 'sell-on' fee - as I understand it this has still not be sorted out and would go to the courts to decide?

To be fair we have had a decent relationship with Spurs, before and after Harry Redknapp left to join them, with plenty of players going both ways - not always on the best of terms mind - so 'if' the Begovic situation is sorted out then there is every chance a deal could be done, afterall Redknapp and Cotterill are friends, so I suspect this would help his cause.

Whatever is happening we need to start to see arrivals!

I am surprised that those 'waiting in the wings' for the takeover to go through have not come in yet...

sure we'll deal with you. Pay us the £1m you owe us for the Kaboul deal and we are all square. Keep trying to snide your way out of it like you did with all your local business debts, then you can go do one. Simple.

Pompey, not a bad place to play. But for a player on the cusp of braking into the the first team, he would need to play in a PL side on loan. So the transition to first team is not to hard on him. That said I would love Pompey to have first refusal on loaning our youth team players.

The words 'cut of nose to spite face' if spurs take this road. One day we 'might' have someone they want and an ongoing feued is a little childish
07/06/2011 10:11:00
MickTait - a feud involving money owed is never "childish". I am sure that there would be many takers for Rose, so I don't think that this is a case of "refusing" to deal - it is more of a case of choosing who you deal with... Would you deal with someone that you felt owed you money from a previous deal?

tbf jimmy none of us know the true 'ins and out' the £1m we are trying to 'snide' our way out of is not for younes tho anyway is it, its for a sell-on fee for a player you never owners, begovic...
as said none of us know the ins and outs of what really happened, if we owe you money we should pay it, if not we should not - simple!
07/06/2011 10:28:00
that is why i am not sure spurs will do with us TonyRich, for that reason they feel we owe them money we do not - someone is clearly wrong, but can/has this now been sorted out?
if yes then a decent relationship between the clubs can be rebuilt, if not no chance and the deal will no way happen...

cheers Ronyid, there are worse places to go than fratton. do you really think, despite playing a few games at the end of last season, rose is going to break into redknapp's side regularly?

It is a shame that this shower if Sh** is hanging over our heads still, who negotiated this deal, was it Storrieteller or that Azhoughy or whatever his name was, been so long I dont remember, either way someone should be held to account for these shonky dealings, cant blame spurs if they dont want to deal with us.....Having said that, it is clear that there is a new brush in town, making sweeping changes, one of which is public accountability, maybe we will learn a little more about how a deal is set up in the future instead of going by someones word! How many times have we heard, we have bought him, no wait, he is on loan for a month, then he will sign, keep it clean guys, lets not give people a reason to get *****ed off with us.

I don't think spurs yet know what they will do with Danny next season at this stage, but despite the fall out over the Begovic money, spurs would look at their own agenda first and formost

Dont think there is much to worry about to be honest. Levy loves to do business!! We are not westham who love to hug the headline at every opportunity. Anyway all the best and hope you guys are back in the premisership soon.
