Good news is players want in!

Good news is players want in!

As said previously its too soon to cast judgement on CSI, in general and what their transfer plans will be, but it makes a real change to have 'links' to players and feel more of a genuine optimism that we may well pull off the signings.

Not having a constant 'never gonna happen' thought with each link we read, of course some will not come off for whatever reason, makes a refreshing change and its nice not feeling totally pessimistic about the chances of landing a player(s).

The best thing of all is that 'rumoured targets' are starting to talk up their willingness to sign for us!

This means 'part of the battle' is won.

Agreeing a realistic and sustainable deal, that is mutually beneficial - and not just a 'one way street', as used to be the case - is what we then need.

Brian Howard has spelt out, with his comments in The News this weekend, that he wants in and that is a positive thing, right?

Hungry, eager and talented players are what we need, and what I want to see at PFC.

These players wanting to play for us - as he says he does (of course we cannot be too naïve in our belief of what players say) - is exactly what we need and want...

Truly is good news RUG, maybe the tide has finally changed huh? It will be nice to start seeing some new faces, I still dont know what size of squad we will go into the new season with, I would like to see 20 as the start figure, 23 if I was dreaming a little, lets hope those that we do get in want to play for the club, the badge the manager and of course the loyal supporters!

Hmm..BH not good enough for Reading, looked a bit chunky in those semi finals a couple of years back, and a scum fan aswell...Greg H wants to have a new chance at Wolves, and De Leat is interesting Norwich..hey ho..but there are some good pl;ayers who have been released by EPL clubs who may condescend to come to the park

there will always be that concern that it is the money talking that will attract players but i DO hope that its not just a case of 'extra money' bringing in these players - we cannot go down that road again - that will 'hopefully' sign in the coming weeks?
that said i would like to think, infact hope, that we DO still have a decent business plan in mind and we stick to our guns with a sensible wage cap in place. £10,000 p/w, absolute tops, is still more than enough and is the maximum we should be paying for the 'better' players.
lampitt needs to stick strong on this and we have to hope that CSI are also looking to be strong on this front and continue to tell cotts 'no' if he looks to break this. if he does not like hearing no then we bring in someone that will be more realistic.

Talking about numbers, I am not sure we will have about 20 to start with, even if we should have. The sooner we get our team together, the better as I we have seen a slow start to the season for the past 2 years just because the team couldn't jel as fast as it should have done.

Plenty of players good enough for the no power will become available yet, don't see the need to panic at the moment

Having players 'want' to play for us is a great hook, and can appeal to the mindsets of any other players linked with us. As Rug said, the fact that these rumours aren't being laughed off is a very refreshing change.

This is where letting so many youngsters leave the club may come back and bite us on the rear. It is very difficult to sign 11,12 or 13 players because it will be difficult to convince them that they are going to get a regular game. I am sure a few of the better youngsters would have been happy biding their time for a starting berth while they gained a little more experience/strength.
