Sorrin To Pompey?

One of the latest rumoured transfer targets for Pompey is once again Juan Pablo Sorin, having been briefly linked with a move to Fratton before the World Cup.

The 30-year-old, national captain with over 70 International caps to his name was a member of the highly fancied, yet ultimately unsuccessful Argentine side and played in all of his nations games in Germany.

A very attacking left back, who can also play in central defence has experience of not only obviously Argentine football, but also Brazilian, Italian with Juventus and Lazio, French with Paris Saint Germain and
Spanish football with Barcelona and current employers Villarrael, so would prove a very worthwhile and vastly experienced signing. Sorin is said to be keen on a move to England for a fee in the region of £2m, although Pompey are unlikely to be the only club interested. His wages could also
again prove a stumbling block?

Another new name being linked is Fiorentina's 28-year-old, Czech International central defender Tomas Ujfalusi.

Do we know why he would want to move, we seem a strange one to me? But a very ggod signing.

As we seem to have more money than most at the moment, we're getting linked with anybody with legs, but Sorin would be one hell of a capture.

Not the first time he's been linked with us but, as you say, would be a brilliant signing. I wonder where that would leave Matty, though. Presumably Harry is comtemplating the idea of playing them both, with one in front of the other (presumably Matty the further advanced?) Taylor really stepped up his game in the second half of last season and I love the fact that the press are finally starting to give Pompey's players some credit. We should definitely keep hold of Taylor, but Sorin would really show we mean business, and add some incredible experience to the side. As far as the reason goes, by the way, I think we STILL underestimate the Premiership in foreigners' eyes. I was in Madrid the other week, walking round the Bernabeau (what a stadium) and all people wanted to talk about was the Premiership (or Beckham). It takes some sinking in, but Pompey really are a part of arguably the world's best football league. Get in.

Another cracking player to be linked with Pompey. Surely there's not a Pompey fan out there who wouldn't be glad to see this deal come to fruition.

I'm with you pedalo, I'd worry slighly about Matty Taylor, but IF we signed Sorrin hopefully he could fit both in? Keeping Taylor, along with O'Neil was, and is vital to the club. Sorrin could play in central defence but he is without any shadow of a doubt more effective as a fullback. Taylor can play midfield, but I've always liked him better as an attacking fullback, at least it would be a good dilema for Harry.... In a worse case scenario Matty is still young, at 30 Sorrin is no spring chiken so Taylor is a long term player, although he is too good, and he'll know it not to be playing...

You can bring a lot of foreign talent, but you still need a bit of the bulldog breed too. Matty & Gary are that.

Rule Britannia!

His age is probably why he is only valued at 2 million, maybe his contract only has a year or so to go but he will be on some very good money at Villareal, anyone yet remember DA @ 38k being let go?
