Another slipping away from our grasp...

Another slipping away from our grasp...

A Pompey interest in David 'Chuck' Norris is commonly known.

The now free agent, who we tried to sign in January, has plenty of options though and the likelihood is that we will miss out on him...

Steve Cotterill made plenty of noises about wanting to sign Chuck in January, also making enough saying he wanted to come to Fratton - this interest in him remains but PFC leading this queue, 'if' we were, would seem to be less likely now?

According to what sky sports 'understand' Hull, one of the many interested in the former Ipswich captain, have made a contract offer to him.

He would be a fine signing and really strengthen our midfielder and offer another attacking threat but, and maybe I am being defeatist; I am starting to accept that we will miss out on him to be honest.

Leeds and QPR are a couple of the other clubs interested in him and I would 'guess', if they have not already, they will soon also make an offer to him and all the time we are left unable to put an official offer on the table to him - with him interested in joining us or not - the chances grow that we will miss out on him...

Uncertainty surround CSI's takeover remains but with or without this a budget needs to be in place, the only reason for not starting to make moves for players - keeping within a budget on a minimum level come what may - raises the question what are the would be new owners intentions towards the manager we have in place?

It is possible that their plans do not include him, could this be preventing signatures being collected and to be fair players not wanting to put their signature in place too as they want to know who they are playing for and what the clubs future plans are...

As I put on Mick Tait's earlier post until such time as the purchase of the club is or isn't sorted out then I can't see us bringing in anyone. This will more than likely mean us missing out on the better free transfers as other clubs look to bring in players ahead of pre season.

Norris is known to have visitied Pompey's training ground before the season finished - perhaps that put him off!

Bludy hell Norris has never stated an interest in Pompey other than his agent's blah blah " they are one of a few options for David,we are in no rush". He us known to have visited a few clubs so, in reality, he was only a Pompey player in the mind of Cott. In addition I can't see a player of his monthly cost being bought until the ownership deal is done; if Cott is right the player will wait a few weeks before making any decision.

2016-17 Champions Review: March

Every season has its highs and lows. The draw at home to Morecambe was a body blow for Pompey, but little did we know that the next home game against Crewe was to be our turning point.

Done and dusted - O'Brien joining Coventry

Academy graduate O'Brien, who went on to play for Barnet, Brentford and Dagenham following his release by Pompey, will leave Fratton Park again - he'll link up with Doyle at Coventry.
