'If It's Football, It's Vital'

One for us to avoid then methinks!

It had been 'reported', via the 'word on the street' approach, that an 'informal enquiry' had been made about free agent Garry O'Connor.

The same O'Connor, who left Barnsley last month, has - according to The Mail - been 'arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine' with him 'allegedly caught with the Class A drug in Edinburgh during the early hours of Saturday morning'.

After his detainment by police he was 'released without charge pending further examination'...

Of course everyone is innocent until proven guilty but, for me, this is another reason why it would be best to steer clear of the 28-year-old really.

Before I carry on I know beggars cannot be choosers and chances are we are going to have to pretty much 'take what we can get' again this summer, and I am not being negative just realistic with it looking increasingly like this will happen again, but a striker who is seeing a career decline is one to avoid for a start, right?

Add to that the fact he was released by Barnsley, with all due respect to them, means he is hardly what I would have thought we needed before this class A drug news, following it I would think we should be even less interested...

I think this is the kind of player SC is looking at. Experienced etc etc played in Europe with Locomotiv, sixteen Scottish caps - not my choice but this is the type.

No doubt we will be linked with the usual A-Z of players & end up getting in very few unless there is a new owner. As for this chap, heaven only knows but let's hope not.
storagematt
My hope is not, my reality tells me it's possible. But I think PFC will keep a million miles away from anypossible bad publicity

Regardless of his misdemeanour's on his day the man is more than good enough for our shower

This guy has been linked with Pompey on three or four occasions now so I think there us something to it. Sadly this is a player who never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity and there is no point having a great player who seems permanently suspended or arrested; hardly ideal for a club trying to clean up it's image.

@pentonpompey; I'm not sure when a player is supposed to be a role model to the younger players class A drug possession should be reduced to the word is "misdemeanour" I doubt it is legally. Also there have been consistent links with this mans playing performance drop off's being linked to drug taking and clubbing before games. Can Pompey afford a player who might not turn up- particularly when that role is taken by Kitson.

Actually Rug, I may be wrong about Gary O - oh hang on - his Ferrari F1 430 spider car was found crashed into a bridge and abandoned after he was seen having a night out; so he's probably alright..... just needs a bit of luvin....
russellm
What i meant russ was; he as a player is more than decent enough to get into our excuse of a squad. As for what he gets up to i never condoned any of his actions. Strikes me; just as it appears the World over, very average players are lauded worshiped and showered with money, for in my opinion no good reason. They think they're better than they are and more important than they are. Football in general needs to take a hard look at itself when a player like this can afford a Ferrari and a lifestyle as he does. When all said and done he's a 2nd Div footballer for Christ sake, hardly something to be shouting from the roof tops in the scheme of things! Same as i said to the Scummer supporter shouting at work..."So you finished runners up in the 3rd Divsion, big deal" that shut him up a little...thats what i mean by Football's grandiose idea of its self!
