'If It's Football, It's Vital'

An assessment of Boss Hogg!

When Boss Hogg arrived at Fratton you might well remember Mike Field giving us a heads up on him, and what we 'might' get from him?

If not have a look at this: The whole Hogg - a Villa view on new boy.

Well, I also promised Mike that I would give him my views on him when the season ended and he returned to Villa Park following his loan.

Mike asked me these questions:

1 - Were you surprised, annoyed or delighted that you made the move for Hogg when you did and did you know anything about the player before he signed?

2 - Ignoring the media reviews what has been your impression of little Jonathan in the few games he had for you. Should he have got more pitch time, didn't he live up to his billing or did you find him to be the tough tackler, terrier type I expected him to be for you?

3 - Are you disappointed to see him leave, and if he fails to make a first team spot his own next season would you gladly have him back?

4 - What would you say his strengths and weaknesses have been in the games played for you?

5 - Have any interesting nicknames and chants been created on the back of his arrival?

My answers were given and are now up on Vital Villa: A Vital Pompey View On Jonathan Hoggy.

What would you have answered to some, or all, of these though?

From what I've seen the words boss & Hogg can only be linked in irony, not a bad player by any means, quite creative ( when the mood takes him) but not going to dominate either.

He's not the kind of player who'll make headlines, but he could easily be a squad player week in, week out. I wouldn't mind if he came back next year on loan. i wouldn't wnt him on a permament deal.
