Will CSI walk the walk that they talk?

Will CSI walk the walk that they talk?

The CSI Russian takeover has been 'on and off' like so many before this.

At this point in time it 'seems' on again, when it was 'claimed' to be all but off a week or so back, clearly some brinkmanship issues were being used.

'Mid-May' - yes I know we have heard this, that and the other date mentioned - has continued to be the most vocal 'word on the street' timescale mentioned so we are soon approaching this...

If this proves the case this gives us a decent starting point to begin the rebuilding process at PFC, on the squad side of things for sure.

Although, as he told, this will be done in 'the right way' according to Vladimir Antonov: 'our business plan has been approved by the Football League.

'Yes, it implies the improvement of the team's squad and the reconstruction of the stadium, which will demand certain investments, but they won't be sky-high. Moreover, next year the Fair Play regulations will come into effect in England, prohibiting the clubs from spending more than they earn.

'In sports you can spend billions and remain without Premier League promotion or you can invest much less money, but make it in a right way and be very successful.'

This is an approach that I would very much welcome!

It would be possible to rebuild this squad without ploughing millions and millions into it, which would clearly come at a price to PFC.

We, well I, have had enough 'speculating to accumulate' for the time being and an incorrect level of this, which I would argue would have been the case in January anyway, will 'probably' mean the end of PFC next time, because there will not be a 'next time' if we get into serious trouble again, because that will be that...

Any takeover, should it go through - as it now 'seems' it will - is going to be purely on a 'strictly business' approach: 'it is strictly business. For entertainment, I could buy a season ticket not the whole of the club.'

Quite how realistic is could be for Antonov and his crew to 'turn a profit' remains to be seen mind?

Yet given the riches in football, and some other clubs showing that if you go about things in the right way then you can run a football club successfully, it is not impossible even for PFC.

Oh, how I long for us to be one of those that does run a club in the right way, a way that ensures that you do have a decent and sustainable long-term future ahead of you - although such things take time, so time and patience is something that people will need to have both as fans and owners, unfortunately this is not something you see much of in football these days from both sides really...

Talk of a new stadium, or developing Fratton, is something that will, and should, remain nothing but talk for the foreseeable future - and I suspect it will do, at least a new stadium, because I have heard this all my life - but some of the talk being spoken, whilst maybe not something that seems entirely possible, is still good to hear in many ways.

Words are words though, the actually actions that follow - should CSI gain control of PFC - is what we want to see! If they can work along the lines of what Antonov has said then this is something that I like the sound of.

Can Vladimir Antonov, and co, operate PFC on a 'strictly business' basis?

Well time will tell, but he is certainly talking a good talk so 'if' CSI do indeed takeover lets hope that they also walk a good walk...

If we really thought a buyer would buy Pompey and not expect to make a return on his investment we were very naive... I say let's (in time) judge the bloke against his plan .. when he takes over and not before .. That's if 'The Trust' don't issuing demands and scare the bloke off lol.. We need to realise PFC maybe the club of the city that we were born and who we support week in week out rain or shine .. but it is not and never will be 'our' club.. not unless we can stomp up some dosh ! ... and forty years of looking have failed to dig up a billionaire living in Hilsea, Stamshaw or Buckland

....none in Eastney either Chix!!

What worries me is the talk of the £90m on promotion, almost as though that is the return they are after.

I think the £90m is more a justification on the return the club looks to make if they spend money to get promotion, so that people don't see new owners splash cash and think here we go again. More like a speculate to accumulate etc, as opposed to invest £20m get £90m and f-off ?

Dave, I beg to differ, I do know of one; sadly it's not me or a close friend. I met him at the RYC Cowes and sailing is his thing. . . . The Antonov's bank Snoras ( lol Geko said " money never sleeps" he should've banked with Snoras) can't trade in this country but horses for courses, I guess the club is a tax write off which, if it makes a profit is fine. I also noted the £90 million statement and whilst you can't rule out a cut and run the money is paid to the club not the individual and the FL & PL will still have oversight for the life of the CVA. I feel this statement refers to additional team funding or surety for the stadium modernisation that the man accepts has to happen. I'm with Chix let's see what Mr Antonov does about a measured approach, publishing and filing audited and signed off accounts and most importantly paying the tax and NI bill.

Just not sure about anything, but I look with anticipation every day to see if they have bought us with a hope and optimism, i have not felt for a while.. I worry that neither of the Banks this lot own are what you call high fact one of them trades above a launderette or something in Edgware..I suppose its good for them to be able to dry the notes easier..I am also worried that this might just be old Arcadi Gaydamak again but in a different fact i really do wander if the club has ever left his owner ship..Al Mirage and all that..and idf Chanrai 's administration game wrote of millions of pounds worth of debt by shuffling the cards and changing names..that is a massive profit margin.

Vital View - League 2, 18th February 2017

Doncaster's winless run went on but they remain three points ahead of Plymouth. Carlisle are a further two points back. Leyton Orient and Newport hold the unwanted relegation places.

Video - Barnet 1-1 Pompey

A late Barnet goal looked as though it would end Pompey's unbeaten run but Conor Chaplin proved the saviour when he scored a last minute equaliser to earn a point in a 1-1 draw.
