What does the future hold for...Ciftci?

There can be few clubs with such a history of squad rotation as Pompey.

This summer, as with the past 2-3, I would suspect that 'most' will be wondering where their future lies.

Although unlike some other years some players under contract at least 'should' have a better chance of remaining where they are, as long as this is what they want!

If this is what they want, and it is a financially viable option for us, lets hope this is what they get...

#24 Nadir Ciftci

Stated like a house on fire but has fizzled out badly...

'Perhaps' some of this was down to attitude, a bad one at that? Maybe he suddenly thought he had made it big time and lost the grounded approach he needed - especially when Guus Hiddink came sniffing around offering him international options with Turkey.

In his defence though I suspect the treatment so many of the other youngsters had been given had an impact on him so committing his long-term future to Pompey is a worry that he might have had - fears of being on the outside looking in for most of his time at the club could have been there, hence the lack of a contract signing?

So, it is probably six of one and half a dozen of another that has, or will, decide his future.

All this said, for all his possible faults, he has got talent and should have been used more so this talent could blossom here and not elsewhere.

I suspect his head has been turned, and his future decided, so although I would like it here it seems pretty obvious that it lies away from Fratton...

Great talent, & an eye for goal, how we let him slip away is just crazy, sorry but Cotteril cocked up on this one.

Wow. These comments are slightly embarrassing, actually more than. Ciftci appears to be a talented prospect, but he is a luxury. At the start of the season we were playing 4-4-2, where would he fit in that? Would he warrant a place in a midfield ahead of Brown, Hughes, Lawrence, Mullins, Utaka? No. With his contract up, we do not know whether SC was able to offer him a new deal. Within six months of the end of his contract he can talk to whoever he likes about playing for them this season. Had he been with us next year I could fully see SC playing him in a midfield three. However, young master Ward has made that position his own. Get real guys!

He is just a nipper who thinks he has made it in the world of football. He isnt all that and I couldnt care if he goes or not.

To be fair ciftci isn't a midfielder certainly not a centre mid :s, personally I could see him playing of the forward.
