Card payments agreed 'in principle'

The club yesterday announced that they have agreed a deal 'in principle' for credit/debit cards to be used for payment on season tickets.

From Tuesday morning - all being well - those wishing to renew, that have not yet done so, 'should' be able to do so.

Full details on this, and a few others bits - as issued on The Pompey Site - can be seen below...

Season Ticket Update

Portsmouth Football Club is very pleased to announce that a deal has been agreed in principle with a merchant service provider allowing supporters to renew their season tickets with credit and debit cards.

As these are new arrangements we will now be performing technical testing of the system to ensure it will be operational next week. We anticipate this will be concluded on Tuesday morning.

It is therefore planned that seats will be available for sale by this method from midday on Tuesday, April 26. In addition, the early-bird window will be extended for an extra day of sales to Saturday, April 30 (no sales on Friday, April 29 due to the public holiday).

Supporters will be able to renew their seats either in person or over the phone. Unfortunately there will be no online sales.

We plan to operate extended opening hours, with extra phone lines also being provided to cope with anticipated demand.

Also, in order to manage the call volumes as efficiently and effectively as possible, we are planning for renewals in different parts of the ground to be sold on different days as follows:

Tuesday, April 26: South Stand (including Family Enclosure)
Wednesday, April 27: Fratton End
Thursday, April 28: North Stand
Friday, April 29: No sales
Saturday, April 30: Supporters will be able to renew their seats in any of the three stands.

Final details, including confirmed opening hours and telephone numbers, will be released on Tuesday once the system testing is complete.

There will be a couple of additional changes to our previously advertised information, namely:

- Season tickets will now go on general sale from Friday, May 6 (previously May 4), when credit and debit cards can again be used.

- The administrative charge for debit/credit cards will now be a flat £5 per ticket (previously £10 credit cards/£5 debit cards).

Introduce A Friend

The club are also pleased to announce the launch of an Introduce A Friend scheme.

Anyone renewing their season ticket in the early-bird window who introduces a new season ticket holder (i.e. not the holder of a 2010/11 season ticket or half-season ticket) will receive a 10 per cent rebate for both themselves and their friend.

This Introduce A Friend offer will apply to anyone who has already renewed their season ticket or does so before the early-bird deadline expires.

The friend will then also get a 10 per cent rebate on the price of a season ticket bought on general sale from Friday, May 6.

This gives an existing season ticket holder the chance to get a 2011/12 season ticket at virtually the same price as this season, while the new season ticket holder can effectively buy at the current early-bird price.

Season Ticket Prize Draw

Finally, and as a gesture of goodwill for the supporters who buy in this early-bird period despite the operational difficulties experienced by the club, we are going to conduct a Season Ticket Prize Draw.

For every 1,000 season tickets sold during the early-bird window, a pair of free tickets will be raffled.

Full terms and conditions on both of the above initiatives will be published in due course.
