What does the future hold for...Hogg?

There can be few clubs with such a history of squad rotation as Pompey.

This summer, as with the past 2-3, I would suspect that 'most' will be wondering where their future lies.

Although unlike some other years some players under contract at least 'should' have a better chance of remaining where they are, as long as this is what they want!

If this is what they want, and it is a financially viable option for us, lets hope this is what they get...

#14 Jonathan Hogg

It would have been easy for his opening game to have set the tone for the entire spell that Jonathan Hogg has had at Fratton although to be fair he has reacted well to it, and also to be fair that particular midweek game (against who I forget) all were poor and he had literally arrived just hours before kick-off.

Opinions are split on him, some have thought he has done well others think not. I think, all in all, 'Boss Hogg' has done ok. A poor mans Mikey Brown or sure, who I cannot lie we have missed but he made his decision and that was that...

Boss Hogg has a contract with Villa although he will 'probably' be nothing more than a squad player at best as I am not convinced that he is premier league quality and 'perhaps' a little sentiment and loyalty was shown in giving him a new contract after battling back from such a serious injury?

I have liked him so I would not be against another loan next season, and he is not ruling this out, but it would be nice to get some contracted players in if possible to bring some real stability to us, and I do not see him being someone we would pay money for, if we had it?

All in all I would say his future 'probably' lies away from Fratton...

I'd agree with Rug he is a tenacious player in the style of Igoe but we need more permenant players. If Villa let him go for say 100k I think he would be worth a punt.

Still unsure about Hoggie. Industrious player but does not create much and will never score goals. He has to decide whether he wants to be a 'squad' player at Villa or pursue a career elsewhere and play football. £100k Yosher I agree but very unlikely methinks.

Started well but dropped off recently but who hasn't, I'd be happy for us to bring him back on loan again next season. He's still only 22 and will improve. I don't think he should be paired with Mullins though maybe away games but at home we need something more creative in the middle.

Point 1, jury is still out but worth another go ; Point 2, Pompey shouldn't be looking at building around loan players.
