Did it tell us anything about the feelings of 'Vital' readers towards our playing assets?
When AA appeared in the High Court he placed a value upon our players stating if all the players were sold this is there 'book' value. That figure I seem to remember was well into the millions of pounds and whilst I accept we have sold a few since then e.g. Marc Wilson and John Utaka actually with what we have left (excluding loan players) how much are they worth now?
I suspect that with the players we will have under contract at the end of the season accepting that Nugent, Webber, Hreidarsson, Brown, Hughes, Ciftci, Ashdown and others from when AA made that statement actually how much will our retained playing staff be worth on the open market?
I chose five of our 'retained' players and thought I would ask you who was worth the most money?
Undoubted favourite was Lawrence and whilst I believe the level of his performances has dropped from the start of the season the result is probably right. I believe if a decent Premiership club comes in for him in the summer he will be gone. Similarly If BC gets an offer of £1 million or more he will bite their hand off.
I voted for Ward, I would hate for him to go and would love to see the side built around him.
Interesting other bits:
1. Only 9% voted for Nugent, this maybe because we all believe he is leaving anyway.
2.Mullins did ok at 3% but oh what a voice of critics regarding Kitson no wonder he jumped at the chance of leaving Stoke. Reading got £5.5 million when they sold him and I expect Kitson got about 10% of that as a signing on fee.
Final scores.
Aside the fact Nugent is on a 'free' if he was not which of our players would get us the largest fee?
Lawrence 74%
Ward 14%
Nugent 9%
Mullins 3%
Other 0%
Kitson 0%
