'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Season done for one, and another? Magri time?

For the second season running Rocha John Rocha has managed to pick up two red cards.

What is more, you cannot say he is not consistent; he has also managed to collect the red cards each time just games apart!

Last season it was a home debut red against Sunderland, maybe harshly - the night Uncle Avram let rip at the ref - which was soon followed by a red for two yellows on his return from suspension against Burnley.

This season he saw red against Reading, rightly so although the penalty was harsh, and then having managed to avoid back-to-back sendings - unlike last season - by facing Coventry last week only to get a straight red at Cardiff on Saturday.

As a result he gets a 3-match ban with a further game added as it was his second dismissal of the season, that equals him not playing again this season.

He is also facing a 'heavy fine' if it is proven that he did head butt Boothroyd at the weekend, I have seen no footage...

That leaves us a man light at the back and that 'might' become two before the week is out?

A knee injury to The Herminator could not only end his season but end his Pompey career too as he is out of contract at the end of the season of course...

The full extent of this injury is not yet known, although for Hermann to come off in any game it needs to be a pretty serious injury.

So, we face the prospect of being even lighter at the back, some juggling around 'should' see us ok mind, yet I am left wonder would it 'really' do any harm to try and start looking to next season, and the future, by drafting in some of the kids?

One guy in particular that I am thinking about is Sam Magri.

Yep, I know he is very young and all that but he is an England youth international and is getting glowing reports - so will it really do any harm to at least put him on the bench in the closing weeks and look to introduce him into the fold?

I see no issue with it but given Steve Cotterill's stance with the kids it is pretty much nailed on that we have little, or no, chance of seeing this happen I guess...

Mok, & Dickerson to come in would seem the way cotteril would go, unless he put Ward back their.

I watched the league show Saturday night and in fairness Rocha did put his head into Bothroyds face, although he did dip his head in a bit as well so he should have got the same treatment. SC does my head in with this their too young and only kids etc etc. Watched Liverpool yesterday and Dalglish had two 18 year olds at right and left back against Arsenal and thats in the Premier league. If a player is good enough then he is old enough in my book. Ciftci for example should be playing instead of the useles tw*t Kitson, but again for some reason SC has had a falling out with the lad and he's not going to get a look in. It seems he has his own agenda and not the interests of our club at heart sometimes. Don't get me wrong Im I think he has done a greeat job with all thats gone on, but this issue with our younger lads is not good.

Ciftci stated a while back that he wanted to play for a better club than Our Club (or words to that effect) so wouldn't sign a new contract. Cotterill did exactly as I would have done and decided that the little upstart would not have a shop window for The Uniteds, The Arsenals and the Chelseas to browse. He can leave and play for anyone he likes but Pompey don't owe him anything. And that's East Thurrock United, Arsenal Ladies and Chelsea Pensioners Sunday 11.

RJR was unprofessional simple as that. Magri won't get a look in, we still have Divyko, Donkoo and Mok the Weak on the pay sheet - sadly. Still I have to say Rug, you have taken a big risk with this article, it could be construed as in contrast to Pompey live's Tony Goodall who insists Pompey aren't a dirty or a chat back team. Risky strategy I say.
