What does the future hold for...Lawrence?

What does the future hold for...Lawrence?

There can be few clubs with such a history of squad rotation as Pompey.

This summer, as with the past 2-3, I would suspect that 'most' will be wondering where their future lies.

Although unlike some other years some players under contract at least 'should' have a better chance of remaining where they are, as long as this is what they want!

If this is what they want, and it is a financially viable option for us, lets hope this is what they get...

#7 Liam Lawrence

If we could go back in time I would love the deal that took Marc Wilson to Stoke to simply have included Liam Lawrence and not Dave Kitson too!

Sadly we cannot though...

Lawro settled in quickly and has become an important member of the squad and starting 11, he is now of course our captain. I do dislike his constant whinging to the referee, although he will now argue he can do this more as he is the captain.

To be honest I have little doubt that he could play at a higher level again but, and I may be wrong, I do not think he is in a hurry to leave the club.

Unless we get an offer that really is 'too good to refuse' his future lies at Fratton for me...

#2 Greg Halford - here.
#3 Carl Dickinson - here.
#4 Aaron Mokoena - here.
#5 Ritchie de Laet - here.
#6 The Herminator - here.

I must say, I thought he was far too good for us when he first signed, that he could easily break into a Premier League team. And while my opinion hasn't changed, I do feel he has lacked his cutting edge since his return from injury. Hopefully this will change and he will find his old form come next season, as I believe he will still be at Fratton Park.

I don't think he is quite so brilliant as others seem to and Stoke has been shown to be right letting Sonko Divko and the striker Fluffy Kitten go and i dont see that they would have got it wrong with Lawrence. Ive often commented that he is too wrapped up in his own game and was not the best captain, but, let's be honest he stays as long as he wants to.

tbh russ i get where you are coming from in many ways - lawro is good, and an important member of the starting 11, but i do not think we missed him that much when he was injured back along. i do not like the way he is constantly in the refs face, he can get away with this abit more with the captains armband tho...
whatever tho i know i would rather have him play for us than against us at this level and cannot see him not being here next season.

Lawro is one of the best players in the championship, and I'd keep him here at all costs. He is one of the best all round performers this season and he will be again, next season.

Will be here as long a new owner is, he has definitely dropped off lately but he is a vital part of our team now and for next season.

Rug is dead right there as soon as Lawro came on on Tuesday he was in the refs face and kept there til the final whistle. I don't like to see that in the player however bad the official. Nevertheless he is a player of quality although he needs the summer to get over his knocks. He is a big earner though and they have to perform or be moved on - Kitson??
    15/04/2011 21:27:00
if cards were dished out more regularly and consistently for players doing that they would soon stop! dish out red cards and then they will soon realise that you cannot do it. like you dave no matter how bad the ref is the players 'should' show respect, even if you have to earn this and some refs do not...
a big earner yes, but 'if' the 'word on the street' i hear is correct another of those from stoke that they are, for whatever reason, still contributing towards his wages even tho we now own him.

One decent offer in the Prem and he will be gone. But thanks for liffting us for a while Liam
