Top half finish in the balance

Pompey have seven games left and have 54 points at present. How many will we finish with? That was the question we asked in our midweek poll and your choice was between 60 and 64 points at the end of the season.

The results were -

60-64pts - Good enough for a top half finish? 46%

55-69pts - The five wins skipper Lawrence wants. 28%

75pts - Win all seven and stroll into the playoffs 15%

54pts - Oh dear! 6%

55-59pts - Just not good enough! 4%

70-73pts - A great run but the playoffs? 1%

All that suggests that in total three quarters of you believe Pompey will finish with a points total in the sixties which will not be enough to make the playoffs. Last season Blackpool claimed sixth place with seventy points six points adrift of ifth placed Leicester. To finish in the top half you needed 60 and 48 to avoid relegation.

• Swansea City (H)
• Burnley (A)
• Norwich City (H)
• Scunthorpe United (A)

There are no easy games against mid table opposition but two against the bottom three and four against clubs pushing at the other end. The other game is Coventry who will be trying to ensure they are not dragged into a relegation dogfight.
