No Lawro injury setback

No Lawro injury setback

It was feared that Liam Lawrence had suffered another injury setback at Reading, with the Pompey captain worried he would be sidelined again after some discomfort during the defeat at the weekend.

Although scan results have revealed that all is ok.

So, he will be available - or at least should be - this weekend for the first of the Fratton doubleheader against Preston.

To be honest, as much of an influence Lawro has had at Pompey - especially the 1st half of the season - I am not entirely convinced we missed him as much as we could have, as we did not really during his last injury absence, not that I would want this of course!

A man, some would argue boy, that really benefited was Joel Ward, although since Lawro's return the youngster has found himself out of the starting 11, and I think this has not been to our advantage...

I am more concerned, than I would be had another Lawro absence happened, by Rocha John Rocha's suspension this weekend, we will really miss him at the back.

Although I 'think' he only serves a 1-match ban so it could be worse and a return against Coventry 'should' happen next week.

This is good news, I hope he finds his scoring boots again soon though.

    Duo sign professional Pompey deals

Will Jez Bedford and Theo Widdrington be the future Pompey midfield? We'll certainly hope so, clearly the Blues do too or they wouldn't have signed professional deals at Fratton Park.

Nathan Thompson - A Swindon perspective

Prior to his departure for Wigan, Paul Cook wanted Nathan Thompson at Pompey. Interest was retained by Kenny Jackett, who completed his free transfer signing from Swindon last week.
