Petrov: Let Me Go

Petrov: Let Me Go

Petrov is pleading with Celtic to let him go, not only for the good of the player but for the good of the club!

He said, 'Of course it is affecting me.

'This has been dragging on for months. Everybody knows my situation but it's up to Celtic.

'They know how I feel and as soon as they let me talk to someone I'll be happier. Right now my form is poor definitely. I can't hide that. I'm not happy in my situation and so I hope to sort it out quickly.

'I want it to end. I want to try something else, go somewhere else and I hope Celtic respect my wishes.'

Celtic have losed their third pre-season friendly in a row to poor sides.

Petrov is worried that if he doesn't move he will be playing for a poor side next year;

'We are only two weeks away from the start of the league and we don't look as if we can defend our championship.

'We have been flat in our matches and at the moment we are nowhere near the form that won us the championship last season.

'So if we don't start playing well it will be a very hard season.

'I fear for us in the Champions League with performances like this.

'Every mistake is punished and it's the whole team who are to blame.'

His comments have been well timed as Celtic have till tomorrow to give Portsmouth an answer on our final offer.

OK then I will mention the three friendlies, three losses, agg 7-0 including 4-0 to DC United and Petrov is the (part) blame, Old Golden Balls gets a bit of slack as well.

Textbook stuff from a wantaway player. He's forcing Celtic's hand. He'll be ours for about £4.5m, all being well.

IF HE WANTS TO LEAVE LET HIM GO. He's a top class footballer and I want Pompey to sign him, but no disrespect to Scottish football the standard isn't always that high so he may be made to look better than he is? Not wanting to sound negative, or like I don't want him (I'd love him at Fratton next season) but I've not often seen him really stand out when playing in Europe? With this said Bayern Munich apparently came in for him back along, or he was recommended to them, and to play so many times for Bulgaria he obviously is very talented but 4-4.5m is more than enough so just accept the offer and let us have him, just hope wages don't prove our downfall again...

Milan Lalkovic has become Pompey's sixth signing of the summer. A compensation agreement with Walsall was agreed that has seen the former Chelsea winger join the Blues.

Solving that goalie quandary

I'm not sure our problem with finding a 'regular' no.1 last season was behind our failure to gain promotion from league two was it? Clearly it didn't help mind.
