Jon Stewart?

I was at work the other night, many of you will know that I do the one night a week at Tesco to ensure ends meet, and someone noticed the tattoo on my arm and asked about it.

The tattoo is XVII - V - MMVIII.

This is of course the date Pompey won the FA cup, one of the best days of my life in many ways but also a bad one - although the good far outweighs the bad!

Anyway, I said it was the day my football team won the FA cup. They asked who and I said - there were a few playful groans so I asked if it was good or bad. I feared they would be scummers! They said ok because I was not a 'Grecian', an Exeter fan. I assumed that meant that they were Plymouth fans then.

They also told me that, I think it was a family member, friend or maybe some family relative had played for Pompey, but not at senior level, but has to retire after seriously damaging a knee.

As I was focusing on my work as well as talking to them the name did not quite sink in, and I said it was not one I recognised but after they had gone I was 'sure' that they said his name was Jon Stewart?

If it was him I knew him, but it might not have been though so I could be wrong...

If it was him then it was none other than the Jon Stewart that we previously had at the club and the same Jon Stewart that came to America with us last season.

The more I think the more I reckon it could have been him that they said because he sustained a serious knee injury playing for us in North America if you recall.

I do not know if it was serious enough to end his career though?

This footballer, with Pompey connections, they mentioned most definitely had retired though. The one they mentioned also still walks with a limp and cannot even drive a car at the moment I think they said...

I am not sure if Stewart played for Exeter, as the impression I got was that this guy had previously had a spell with either Exeter or Plymouth as a youngster but was released before ending up at Pompey before having to give up.

So, does anyone know what came of Jon Stewart after his injury last summer, is it possible that this is the one that they were talking about?

If not, any ideas who this mystery man could be?
