Aussie in on trial

In what I would 'assume' is a move that is starting to see us bring next seasons thoughts into mind Scott Neville is joining us for a 2-week trial.

The 22-year-old Australian, described as a 'versatile defender' and also someone that 'can also operate in a defensive midfield role', will begin his trial on Saturday.

Neville, who plays for Perth Glory, said: 'I'm really grateful to be given this chance to head to Portsmouth and would like to thank everyone involved.

'To train and play at this level will be a great learning experience.'

I cannot say I have ever heard of the guy let alone know what his footballing abilities are like, although he has the chance to impress so it is now down to him to do so...

What I will say is that I am happy that we 'seem' as though we are starting to do some forward thinking as there will 'probably' be a lot of rebuilding at Fratton again this summer.

Thought the aussie trials were over more than 200 years ago?

lol yong! lets just hope that he proves to be the most successful aussie we have had - most, tbh, were nothing but venables back hander jobs...

Not quite a wipper snapper is he at 22? I'm guessing Cot is looking to replace Dicko or Sonko, praps he's anticipating Mok-the-Weak taking another extended break!. . . Pompey have generally done quite well out of the Commonweath cousins .

Oh and welcome Scott :-), - oh - money? English number, Aussie Dollars ; that ok - mmm.

He was quite easily Perth Glory's best player this year in a disappointing year.Glory is the team that now boasts the talents of one Robbie Fowler. I am an avid follower as I live in Perth obviously. Great to see my two loves come together. He is quick, very good, reliable player. Has outplayed many A league standard players. Not that that says much. I would say we will sign him for sure
