So, the season ticket prices are out - we know the score and what we can and cannot do.
I have got to say, despite understanding the increase in ticket prices - that is fine(ish), I am bitterly disappointed that we, existing season ticket holders, only had a 2-week window to sort out our season ticket renewals to save £50.
As far as I go - and perhaps in a selfish way - I, like many others, do not like the thought of doing this by post and doing in person is NOT possible. Without another home game until next month I am amazed that people, and A LOT of us are in the same boat, that live off the island have not been taken into account!
Again, speaking for myself but I would also think many others, I can hardly nip down and do this in person as I live in Devon...
I assume that you can get someone else to do it for you, but being able to find £450 at the drop of a hat in less than 2-weeks is hardly easy is it, especially given the fact that credit cards cannot be used!
I might go as far as say I am devastated as I am not convinced that I will now renew my season ticket - and dare say plenty of others will feel the same - as that extra £50 I will 'probably' have to pay now, as a result, by not doing an early bird probably puts me off as it becomes too expensive given my circumstances.
A game-by-game basis, and not what I wanted to do at all and 'if' this becomes the case 'probably' not all homes games, looks like the route I 'might' be faced with taking now?
After all the good work that Portsmouth Football Club have done recently, and I genuinely think that we have even if some do not, I think this is a real kick in the nuts for so many of us...
They talk about having credit/debit card payment 'hopefully' available for payment after the early bird window, so WHY have we not just extended this early bird window to compensate for this?
Offering us a mere 2-week window for early birds, is a little harsh right?
£50 more, after this early bird window, might not sound a lot but 'principle' is something that comes into account, reward for being loyal and retaining this season ticket over the years is something you would 'hope' for, but 2-weeks is not really showing much loyalty.
In fact I am LIVID at the lack of loyalty being shown to the fans here and really do think the club will pay a price for this, as the title says I genuinely think the PFC are 'shooting themselves in the foot.'
There is also the fact that as much as £50 might not seem like a lot, I have to say given circumstances of so many people that 'extra' £50 is a lot!
I wonder how many, like myself that would not really have thought twice about renewing their season ticket come what may, even at short notice (but for the finance options available) 'might' be thinking the same as me now and having to give some serious thought to actually renewing - even if this is something that they desperately want to do...
