He'll Score More


Harry Redknapp has handed Benjani a boost before the new season begins. Harry has backed the player to bag some "more goals."

"People are quick to jump on Benjani`s back. But I`ve seen enough of him in training to know what he is capable of.

"Benji`s got a great attitude. He`s a team player. I`ve got a lot of time for the lad. Just because we spent £4.4m on him, people expect him to be a world beater, but that`s only half what Everton paid for Andy Johnson.

"It sometimes takes time for players to settle in when they come over into the Premiership. He was playing in Auxerre and the people in France were saying only good things about him. We would have been relegated without Benjani. We had hardly anyone else up front. Him and Toddy were the only forwards we had. I always thought he was a threat. Now I`d like to see him go on and score a few more goals."

You can't fault the player for effort. Get in that box Benji and you will score.

I'm still convinced. We have a lot of others out there paid to put in the efffort. he's paid to score a hatful. When we take our rosy glasses of, maybe you'll see a bit of reality.

"Go on and score a few more goals"....is it 1 or 2 in total ? If it's 1 that's over 4 million per goal !! Though I do hope he notches a few, he has to be given more chances to repay that sort of investment.

Lumana Lua Lua? Isn't he a striker? Wasn't he playing at the end of the season? Its a big call so say you would have gone down without him. Pedro Mendes two goals to get Pompey off and running. Well he's got poentially 40 (plus) games to score 2.

Stick with Benjani I say, the bloke tried his heart out at the end of last season and despite constant stick from Lawrenson on MOTD he proved his quality (and scored an important goal). I reckon LuaLua would be great left out on the right wing, although it's doubtful he'd be happy playing there for long.
