Every cloud and all that?

Every cloud and all that?

The latest, well pretty much farcical, situation involving Pompey this season - not just this season I guess - will see Aaron Mokoena join the list of absentees for tomorrow's game at Doncaster.

Mokoena's work permit has expired and he cannot be issued a new one until next week, so he sits out the game.

He joins Richard Hughes,
Mikey Brown and Tal Ben Haim who are all fit but unable to feature due to various, mostly 'contractual', issues.

It could be considered a joke, although it is not funny is it, and a joke by its very definition is meant to be humorous!

From the sounds of it this is an issue that could have been avoided as it was something that people were aware of.

That is 4 highly paid footballers that watch from the sidelines and continue to pick up blood good money regardless...

The bonus with Moko being out is that this gives Rocha John Rocha a good chance of getting a start again, surely?

He is without a doubt, despite a loss of pace and an ability to pick up a knock, the best defender that we have at the club yet bizarrely, especially given all our defensive problems, Steve Cotterill refuses to use him.

Cotterill has said that RJR had been injured so he would not include him, yet other players are without a doubt carrying knocks and he picks them, so it makes no sense?

What it does do is add some backing to the 'word on the street' thoughts that there is some issue between player and manager, as there are others...

That said quite clearly Ibrahima Sonko is the 'better defender', this was hinted at by the manager recently, so 'Superman' will be given the nod I suspect.

A nod that will, I also suspect, see him have a few good moments but then produce a howler to gift the points to Donny!

Our defence has been woeful this season, even with RJR in it at times to be fair, although I would not have any hesitation in restoring him to the defence this weekend.

One player that will be available, having been a doubt when he pulled out of Ireland's friendly this week, is Liam Lawrence.

That will be a major bonus!

He will also take the captains armband, which - having had a few doubts previously admittedly - he should keep as he is the one that looks most like a leader out on the pitch these days...

What's the club playing at? Surely they must have known his permit was due for renewal. Incompetency reigns supreme!

I thought Pompey was a football Club, not a comedy playhouse. Does he get paid in the circumstances?

If Coterill picks Rocha... I'll not only eat my hat but my underpants as well. No chance, he's anti Rocha & Herman. He could his reputation the world of good by not slagging off his players in the media, applying a little forethought and ingenuity regarding the youngsters and admitting to the enormous experience of Rocha & Herman... I'm waiting patiently to be suprised.... PUP

MotM in poor Notts County show...Cambridge next

There wasn't too much to cheer from the Notts County defeat was there, well certainly not the 2nd half at Fratton Park but one plus was seen as Amine Linganzi for Pompey.

    Double figure aim for Baker

Goals are in the game of Baker; we've seen this already as the midfielder has scored four for Pompey since his arrival from MK Dons in the summer. His aim is at least 10-goals.
