No op for Dickinson? Not yet anyway

Ahead of the Derby game at the weekend Steve Cotterill said that Carl Dickinson would require an operation on his knee...

Much to my, and most others', surprise there he was sat on the bench on Saturday!

In actual fact he spent most of his time charging up and down the touchline warming up with it looking likely that he would come on.

Having consulted the Stoke surgeon it has been agreed that NO surgery will take place at the moment, although, as Cotterill told The Pompey Site, it 'could' before the season is out: 'Carl has been to see Stoke's surgeon. We think at some stage there may be something that needs to be done.

'But in the meantime the surgeon doesn't want to touch the knee, so we'll wait and see.'

The lack of an op needed here will 'probably' mean that any outside chances that an emergency loan signing would arrive anytime soon have been shelved, unless one of the other loanees picked up an injury?

Dickinson's fitness allowed us to name a full compliment of 7 subs for only the second time this season, which cannot be bad can it...

    Poor start proves costly

Pompey went to the Keepmoat Stadium looking to extend the unbeaten run but a disastrous opening five minutes put paid to that as Doncaster ran out 2-1 winners on Tuesday.
