Dickinson may require surgery

Pompey defender Carl Dickinson may require knee surgery the club have just announced.

The defender who has started twenty six games since coming on loan from Stoke City is to see a specialist over the injury which kept him out of Tuesday's defeat at Loftus Road.

Blues boss Steve Cotterill told the club site : "Carl Dickinson will be going in and having a knee operation. It could be short-term or long-term.

"He will definitely have to have something done, it`s just the severity of what he has to have done."

Cotterill has one other injury concern ahead of Derby's visit to Fratton Park.

He said: "From the 11 that started at QPR we've got one doubt for Saturday. As it stands at the moment he`ll be no more than 50-50. That's my biggest worry."

Fortunately despite the small size of the current Pompey squad there is plenty of cover at left back with Hermann Hreidarsson and Richie De Laet able to fill in.

However it is worrying that with no additions during the January window and several players appearing to be carrying injuries tht we will be found out in the weeks to come.

If we didnt know he was going to be injured we did know he was a shíte footballer so how we didnt get someone else in on loan to replace him is beyond me, but then we dont want to go down that road, as another stoke 'defender' with a toblerone shaped foot would join him.

If it is a long term injury, would we be able to terminate the loan agreement with Stoke and bring in a replacement on an emergency once the window opens next week?
Alty Blue
as you can tell, if it was a one day term injury, i would like to terminate his loan with immediate effect, due to him impersonating a professional footballer. He should be on rogue traders.
Super Bock 1898
Agreed, assuming we can, and he'll be out for the best part of the remainder of the season it only makes sense to send him back.
