Toddy has tried to persuade Petrov to join the club.
Talking to The News Toddy said : 'He's a good friend of mine. I've known him for about 12 years. We played in the national youth side together, then the under 21's
'Now we are team mates in the Bulgaria squad. I speak to him quite often. He's a nice guy.
'It would be a great signing for us. I've told him all about Portsmouth and said it would be a good club to come to.
'He's a creator, and scores goals. But he's not just a playmaker. His game is not just about going forward, he can defend as well. He's strong and gets all over the pitch from central midfield.'
Harry Redknapp said, 'I'm very interested. And now Jiri Jarosik has gone from Chelsea to Celtic they might be looking to shift Petrov.'

The Petrov saga seems to be dragging on a bit, hopefully he will eventually sign as he has a lot to offer the team as a whole.

All seems to have gone quiet north of the border since Petrov was going to have a little chat with old golden balls. Having a mate at a new club is all the rage so certainly cannot hurt. Hope he signs.
