'Puncheon' above our weight? Not likely!

'Puncheon' above our weight? Not likely!

According to sky sports Pompey are one of a number of clubs 'chasing' Scum winger Jason Puncheon...

Quite how we can be put into the bracket of a club 'stepping up their interest' let alone be in 'a battle' with a number of named premier league clubs - with up to half a dozen 'said' to interested - not to mention an equal amount of nopower clubs is beyond me.

Blackpool, Wolves, West Brom, West Ham, Millwall, Swansea, Middlesbrough and Leicester are all 'said' to be interested in the 24-year-old, oh and us too!

'Back in the day' I am sure we would have had little trouble competing with these sides as we would have paid the money - well at least offered a good amount, given him astronomical wages and a contract until the end of time, even if it was not something we could afford!

It is quite simple laughable for sky sports to even suggest that we are 'in the running' for such a player, well basically any player, and it is these types of 'sky sports sources' reports or understand that make it hard to take their 'transfer window updates' too seriously...

As it happens, Scum player or not, the guy seems to have done well for himself since coming up through the league so I would happily see him at Fratton.

The problem is that this is NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!

Agreed, I'd like to see him in blue, but as long as other clubs are involved, that's simply not feasible.

I saw this report and pretty much laughed it off. In our current situation there is no way we could possibly compete with the others interested.

Agent talk, something like ; Agent to Cot "what do you think of player x?" Cot to Agent " player x, he's alright" . Headline = Pompey in for player x. That's about it, lol our only advantage is we can absolutely guarantee 1 st team footie.

With Doncaster and Plymouth yet to play Portsmouth took advantage to close the gap and extend it on the chasing pack. Newport & Leyton Orient look likely to be relegated.

With Stevenage drawing and Blackpool the only potential challenger winning we've got a six point cushion on Boro that's effectively seven given our superior goal difference.
