'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cotts going? No. Is Nuge though?

There were plenty of 'rumours' flying around over the weekend that Steve Cotterill had decided to leave Pompey.

His reaction, following the 2-1 defeat at Forest, where he went over to the Pompey fans to applaud them was seen, in some quarters, as Cotterill saying his 'farewells' to the fans...

Although this is something that he has completely denied, he said that he simply wanted to show his appreciation to the fans after the Forest comeback left us, and him, stunned.

So, Cotterill is going nowhere although can the same be said of Dave Nugent?

'Links' with a move away are nothing new with him, nor are 'reports' that Blackpool are interested in signing him.

According to The Mirror, having failed with a loan move last summer, a 'fresh £500,000 swoop for Nugent' is planned - with his contract ending in the summer 'perhaps' this is something that the club would be tempted to accept?

Then again, besides the money saved on wages - granted quite a substantial amount - would we really see much benefit from a departure before his contract ends, although I still very much doubt that he will sign a new one.

'If' The Nuge did move on perhaps that would be the final straw that broke the camels back for Cotts though...

Bit of a pickle this one, would love to keep him until the end of the season but on the other hand I don't want him leaving for nothing after we paid 6 million for him. Maybe he'll stay, score a bunch of goals, sign a new contract and we can sell him for 15m, thus buying a whole new squad. Damn optimism of mine.

We've had two years of dismal news now and I can't see any light at the end of the tunnel. ok, so it's the most miserable day of the year, perhaps I may feel more perky tomorrow but for now all I can do is curl into a defeatist ball and say "wibble wibble wibble" as there's sod all point saying much else.

hammersmithblue. Is that a private wibble wibble or would you mind if I had one as well, cos right now sod this for a game of solders

GOD NO! not ANOTHER game Saturday !!! Actually I think Pompey can hold out for a bit more but if a £.75M or £1M offer comes in I suspect the club could and probably should take it, with a sell on feeincluded. In regards the manager I reckon he's threatened and had his bluff called, he has not succeeded enough with the players he's had and various pundits - who ate annoying but tend to be right, have queried some of his tactics and actions. But I guess he has the right to be frustrated about transfer window limitations in the same way as pretty much any manager at pretty much any club; accept maybe Citeh.

Nothing should surprise us, just look at Bournemouth & their manager. How one day may even manage Pompey. For now I'm quite happy to SC in charge. Another change at the helm wouldn't help. A change of owner is what we need. As for Nuge, if Blackpool want him & a fee can be agreed, he'll go, they are staying up & our safety isn't guaranteed.
