bringing this back regularly now, so do get involved like the 'old days' when we ran this...
    pompeyrug
I'm afraid most of my comments wouldn't get past the auto sensor these days. To listen to this one today I'm probably going to have to pay 2.99 and sign up to radio whippet fm - t sound of eastmeedelands ; where't theme from robinood is still noomber 1, for 28 days or something then cancel the payment immediately after the game.
    Russellm
I wouldn't do that Russell, there's a good chance lafferz will link to the match in his Pompey Live site.
    PompeyFrippy
In fact, it's streaming now. It says Brighton but it'll play todays match... http://pompeylive.blogspot.com/2011/01/brighton-v-pompey.html
    PompeyFrippy
Also, and sorry to ram this down peoples throats, but there is about 1 hour left to place a virtual bet on todays game. Find it in the Forums (under Rug's Prediction League), and try out the new Acca betting. I'll stop now!
    PompeyFrippy
Here is the Pompey Team:- Ashdown, Ward, Da Laet, Sonko, Dickinson, Nugent, Mokoena, Mullins, Lawrence, Utaka, Kanu. Subs:- Flahavan, Rocha, Kilbey, Hermann,
    PompeyFrippy
listening to it now Frippy, thanks - fingers crossed they stay with pompey commentary?
interesting that de laet starts, but at right back?
    pompeyrug
Will he play right back or will he play alongside Sonko, with Mokoena playing in the holding role?
    PompeyFrippy
official site said it was at right back?
    pompeyrug
Sounds like they got it right, Ward in center midfield?
    PompeyFrippy
    unusual, altho if it works...
thinking ahead to next week this almost assures that ward is out and halford returns, so dicko stays in as halford will move forward?
    pompeyrug
Still bin Dickinson, doesn't fill me with confidence ever
    paultsmouth
    Kingo!!!!!
    paultsmouth
    That his first of season?
    paultsmouth
    king kanu, kanu
he's older than me and you
    his real age is 62
    king kanu, kanu!!!!
    pompeyrug
    apparently so?
    pompeyrug
Hi guys...who said Kanu's legs had gone???
    cornypomp
who said kanu was ever leggy lol!
    pompeyrug
HI All. Ward is having a good game so far. Really is a good underrated player.
    PompeyJake
turning into a 'jack or all' isnt he, right back, central defender and now in central midfield, albeit defensive.
agree Jake, afternoon aswell, growing in stature all the time.
    pompeyrug
    come on the reddogs
    the_optimist
good start by pompey, we are slow and sloppy our 2nd halfs are usually better
    the_optimist
Had to turn my back to the telly, commentary is around 3 minutes behind real time.
    PompeyFrippy
The wind could play a crucial role in the result as it sounds like its blowing a gale
    PompeyJake
Sounds like it was a great goal by Kanu! Mokoena seems to be having a awful game though. Going back to his old ways?
    PompeyFcMad
Get to half time in the lead... will it be a shock to the system..
    cornypomp
A good first half. The players just need to keep their concentration in the 2nd. Another goal would do nicely.
    PompeyFcMad
not following our game plan are we corny, 2 or 3 down at half time then fight back ;-)
fantastic, come on pompey 45 minutes, mistake free, and we can do them!
    pompeyrug
We have to do what we did at the start of the first half and keep the ball and keep their crowd quiet. Hopefully we can sneak one to make it slightly more comfortable!
    PompeyJake
More of the same in the second half I hope... sounds like Ward's playing a blinder... I'm pleased about that. Sonko?
    cornypomp
Agreed Rug...they're not following the plan. SC will be giving em a right rollocking :-)
    cornypomp
Kanu and ward are having great games!!
    PompeyJake
wardy will be VERY hard done by if cotts leave him out next week!
get a chance, and take it, on the break and we have it altho we just have to hope we do not start dropping too deep, certainly too soon...
    pompeyrug
paultsmouth said we, through lawro, had to target lynch - who many forest fans have down as their weak link - with him now booked we MUST keep on at him too. we failed to do that against solano against hull the other week, lets learn from our failing last time.
    pompeyrug
Ward reminds me of a better version of Marc Wilson. Hopefully we can hold onto Ward.
    PompeyJake
get what you are saying Jake, and had a thought about a similarity myself. altho i think that is unfair to wilson to say ward is a 'better version'. defensively i would say ward probably is, or will be, better altho coming forward with ability on the ball, and being able to spray it around, wilson is far superior.
    pompeyrug
I didn't mean that Wilson was a poor player rug because he was a very good footballer. I just think ward has the potential to be better. He could probably be one of the players of the season. On the other hand: What is sonko doing!!!! Almost let them in!!! No more mistakes.
    PompeyJake
How did SC see anything in Sonko!!
    PompeyJake
ok Jake, get what you mean. sonko is a donkey, we know it and i assume he does too? if we sign him in the summer i will cry i think...
    pompeyrug
ah john, john, john - that 'could' have been the chance on the break we wanted to seal it...PLEASE do not regret that.
    pompeyrug
Ref is as bigger donkey as Sonko..
    cornypomp
come on kilbey, another goal would be nice today - utaka would have been handy on the break but sounds like he had a problem?
    pompeyrug
this is kevin friend we are talking about... he is MUCH bigger a donkey!
    pompeyrug
Nice to see that we have some more discipline than past games though. By this time against brighton we had 1 man sent off and almost 6 players booked!
    PompeyJake
Ironic we've got Friend today and Avram's been sacked.
    cornypomp
saying that Mokoena is now suspended for picking up that yellow! Blessing in disguise though in my opinion. He's not been good.
    PompeyJake
PLEASE let rocha john rocha be fully fit next weekend as moko is now out after his yellow today, altho how much of a miss will he be? who will be capt?
    pompeyrug
    lawro, come on mate greedy...
    pompeyrug
starting to worry now, bringing the herminator on signals us dropping deeper and deeper?
    pompeyrug
think commentators are wrong, herminator is playing at the back i reckon...
    pompeyrug
Mullins or Lawrence I reckon Rug. Just stick super ward there instead of Moko rug! Sounds like we have gone very very deep. Concerning...
    PompeyJake
we are inviting too much pressure on ourselves - gotta push out when we can...
    pompeyrug
NOooooooooooo Its SOnko with the bloody own goal!!
    PompeyJake
unlucky pompey, sonko has been quality all game. our home record is looking good for another week.
    the_optimist
    sod it... typical sonko eh!!!
    pompeyrug
    I'll take the draw now!
    PompeyJake
phew, off the line by de laet? well done son.
    pompeyrug
    noooooooooooooooooo. Thats not right.
    PompeyJake
    Feck>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>..would you feckin believe it.
    cornypomp
jesus christ - WHY did we drop so bloody deep...
    pompeyrug
    FFS!!!!!!!!
    pentonpompey
did not deserve to lose today altho we brought it on ourselves here at the end...
    pompeyrug
totally agree with you rug, a draw would of been a fair result, but thats why we are unbeaten in 32 games at home. unlucky
    the_optimist
Yep..just invited it... well *****ed off! Whatever, we didn't deserve to lose that game.
    cornypomp
the game was ours for the taking when we were 1-0 up, or should i say ours to 'throw away' - and we did!

i did not go today, stayed at home in devon, but even i could see from here that we were dropping too deep and inviting too much pressure so chances were we would get punished.

having conceded the equaliser it was criminal that we kept doing this and then ended up getting nothing - gutted, but we brought it on ourselves, right?
    pompeyrug
******!!! So near yet so far.
