Cotterill 'delighted' de Laet is done and dusted

So, there we have it guys Pompey have officially announced the signing of Ritchie de Laet from Manyoo on loan until the summer.

The News and sky sports were right in their thoughts that this was happening.

The Belgium international, he has 2 caps to his name, WILL be eligible to play against Forest tomorrow and I would 'suspect' that there is a very, very good chance that the new Pompey no.5 will start.

Well this is that 'versatile defender' that Steve Cotterill was talking about then recently and he, as he told The Pompey Site, is more than happy to have him on board: 'we're very pleased to have Ritchie on loan for the rest of the season.

'He's a very flexible defender who can play across the back four. The defence was an area we needed to strengthen, so I'm delighted.

'We're also grateful to Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United for letting us have him.'

I guess we should have known there would be a Stoke connection somewhere - they signed him from Antwerp before Fergie took him to Manyoo 2-years ago...

Nevertheless welcome to Pompey Ritchie, I am sure you will do well.

I'm impressed by Cotterill once again, though it really wouldn't harm to expand the sqaud sideways rather than upwards, surely?

Good stuff, hopefully he'll show us how good he is tomorrow. Glad we're finally expanding the squad, better Da Laet than never!

For god's sake, he's only been here one day and someone's already made that joke. :(

Cotterille has redeemed some poor performances with this one, vote of confidence in the man from Fergie as well I guess. I'm just praying it's not Ward he is used to replace.

It is time for Mokoena to play in midfield. He has been horrible in the defence; maybe he will find his feet in midfield alongside Mullins!

Malta, you probably havent had the chance to see our captain in midfield- trust me- you're a lucky guy.
