Petrov Set For Celtic Talks

Petrov will meet with Gordon Strachan today for the first time this week. Portsmouth have now reportable made a second offer and Petrov I desperate to move to the Premiership.

The players agent, McGill said: 'He is frustrated and I have advised him to speak to the manager tomorrow.

'Even if Celtic agree a fee, there is no absolute guarantee that anything will happen, because we would then have to speak to Portsmouth. We've got a very unhappy player on our hands.'

Portsmouth`s second offer is not thought to match the five million being demanded by Celtic.

TBH lads , take him. If he doesn't want to play for a Champions League team and decides to come to Pompey, then your welcome to him. No disrespect but he will only leave you for someone else too, once he realises that it will either be fighting relegation or relegated this season. Lets see how he fairs in the Championship. Truth is - not one TOP premiership side came in for him and that will have dented his ego.He just recently signed a deal to keep him at Celtic till 2010. Thus why we want more than 3.5million , and TBH , we will hold out for 5 million , or Petrov will rot in our reserves RANT OVER :)

I believe will will get him. He wants to come here and Celtic will have to let him go. There is no point keeping a player if they are that unhappy because his heart won't be in the game. Celtic won't let him go for cheap tho, if we want him we need to offer a good price or just match their 5 million demands. Its not alot for a player of his quality. Or will we simply just squabble over a couple of grand and lose him like D'allesandro. Come on Pompey, do the right thing. And whats going on with millers4eva posting. Are you mental? read the article!

HA HA HA Yitsan you loser. You know nothing. You think CFC is so special cos you get in the chamions league every year but your not actually any good. Your in a scottish mickey mouse league with only 2 half decent teams and the rest are sunday league standard. We are a team with a mass of potential and will not be fighting relegation next season. If CFC were in the premiership you would probably get relegated yourself. So go back to your own board you backward person!

PS Pompeymev go take a ***** to yourself and enjoy the championship next year !!!!!!!!!!!

The reason that not one of the top prem sides have come in for petrov so far, is that they don't often take a chance on players from much inferior leagues, such as div 1 & 2 in England and the SPL in Scotland. Whereas, we (or should i say), our manager, has been known to take a chance on so/so players. In answer to your question Yitsan - The one good reason that he'd want to come to Portsmouth,is that he most probably feels that he wants to extend himself in one of europe's best leagues, rather than just go through the motions against a crop of rubbish teams to earn his money.

He would be a good signing for Pompey, he aint been tested at Premiership level yet but im sure he would take the step up. Scottish league is no-where near as good as the premiership, i read that a player went to a championship team over a SPL team?

Hold on, 3 years ago we were in the UEFA CUP FINAL against the best Porto side in 50 years, who later went on to win the Champions League against your "Top Class" Premiership sides. Weve beaten the best sides in Europe in the last two/three years - Barcelona, Juventus. Weve drawn with Bayern Munich, Porto, Lyon and play in the Champions League every season. Oh an we have given Europe one of the best strikers - HENRIK LARSSON. At least we took them to extra time and scored 2 goals! RELEGATION POMPEY! CHAMPIONS CELTIC! Why did Jiri Jarosik come to celtic ahead of "top premiership clubs?" Birmingham? Man City? Portsmouth? (lol)

Oh yeah, and on our way to the UEFA CUP FINAL we beat Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool. Yeah right we'd be relegated. Youre scared to let us in because we would be one of the richest and successful teams in the world. 62,000 fans every game, 52000 SEASON TICKET HOLDERS, a world fan base and the only set of supporters to ever win a FAIR PLAY AWARD from FIFA. HMM....

what a load of sad Scottish dumb arses we have here today... Jesus, i dont know there were more Scottish Posters than Scotish teams, but i count 3 here so thats 1 more. Celtic would NOT get relegated from the Premiership, because they would never get promoted past league 2. Petrov isnt leaving because you are in the champions league, he is leaving because that little champions league run, last a short time, and the rest of the time he is playing in a league where you all play each other, what is it, 4 times? because your league is so *****e? 'Nough Said.

JC 86 Quote - "62,000 fans every game, 52000 SEASON TICKET HOLDERS, a world fan base and the only set of supporters to ever win a FAIR PLAY AWARD from FIFA" 62,000 fans... ok well if both your top teams had 62,000 fans that would make 124,000 fans. mmm thats it then, the total Scottish football fans? work out 20 premiership teams + 24 Championship teams... Add all their fans together, and it says it all about Scottish BIG Club Celtics fan base. On the whole, 62,000 is ***** poor when there are only 2 teams to pick from. "Fair Play award from FIFA"??? wow maybe thats because you only get concerned and upset when you play Rangers (COME ON YOU RANGERS... YESSS). So being boring, i mean fair for the other games aint that hard. Go and crawl back into the Offy and bye your self some more IRISH Whiskey... in a brown bag.

Yeah they couldn't even get in the Scottish Cup Final....and if you have ever seen one of them, worse than the ads at half time. That is the best part when the ref blows his whistle to put us all out of our misery. The Scottish Prem must be on a par with the Albanian and Tunisian leagues, well maybe....

Blokes who wear red and green skirts are always a bit dodgy if you ask me, and as for no underpants. Winning the Muppet league hardly constitutes a success story. Why don't they change it to the Glasgow Central League. When you win nearly 50 titles each and the next team has won 4 doesn't that say it all.
