Halford back A.N.other to join him?

Halford back A.N.other to join him?

Greg Halford had always looked 'likely', well as likely as most things can with Pompey these days, to come back for a further loan spell and this is now the case.

An agreement with Wolves always seemed to be there for him to come back on loan until the summer and despite Steve Cotterill announcing last week this was the case, Halford disputed this on 'Twitter'.

Although he has now 'officially' revealed that he is coming back, so all is well in the world Twitter has spoken!

This is a good move, and one that I am happy with.

My only reservation with this is the fact that it will mean Joel Ward will 'probably' sit out most games again, as when Halford and Carl Dickinson are fit as they are Cotterill's first choice fullbacks, rightly or wrongly.

For me Ward, who I admit I was having reservations about myself at the start of the season, has grown as the season has gone on and could count himself unlucky to be back on the bench.

As it is Halford is suspended for the weekend so Ward will carry on.

Cotterill has also said that he hopes to bring in another player, almost certainly another loanee, by Friday's noon deadline - that would make this player available for the game at Forest this weekend.

Hopes of 'permanently signing' the 3 players that he wants by the close of the transfer window, contract running down or not, is not something I would be pinning too many hopes to though if I were Cotterill.

Fingers crossed this other player can arrive in time to be considered for the Forest game though as 'every little helps!'

With the recent outlandish statements of the manager who knows what the player selection will be, or who will get dropped, if anyone arrives; we can only hope he gets it right. Personally I'd like to see Mok the Weak and Donkoo be replaced. A midfielder and someone to put pressure on the Ginger Whineger- although I can see Cot hanging on for Webber for that.

Jordi Lopez available on a free - would be a good signing. He trained with us once I believe

New signing, it's been a while. As per usual, not holding my breath until he's on the pitch wearing a blue shirt. Even then I won't be 100%.

The Halford signing is good news, for sure. Cotterill will get it right and has been more loyal than others would have been. I for one was hopeful we would appoint him in the summer of 2009, rather than Hart. Things could have been so different.
