'If It's Football, It's Vital'

I assume we are not paying him?

Whilst I have made little secret of the fact that I am not overly keen for Tal Ben Haim to return to Pompey, because I think that he is (a) not that good and (b) massively overpaid - granted not his fault, that fact that he has NOT returned to training with Pompey yet completely wrong.

Ok, West Ham 'might' extend his loan, but the fact of the matter is his loan spell with them has ended and as such surely he should return to training with Pompey, right?

I can only assume that we are paying his £38,000 per week wages now, if we were not - at least a large amount - during his loan with West Ham anyway, so as such he SHOULD be in training with us now!

If Mikey Brown and Richard Hughes, who are 'highly unlikely' to play for us again, are still training with us - and rightly so if we are still paying their wages - then Ben Haim should be doing likewise.

It will be interesting to see what happens if a loan extension, or permanent move, is not arranged by the weekend as he 'should' then become part of the 1st team squad that takes on Forest. If he has not returned to training by the end of this week or next week, assuming a deal has not been agreed, and we are still paying him then I give up!

With Avram Grant getting a 'stay of execution' with West Ham, apparently, then this would increase Ben Haim's chances of extending his stay with West Ham too but what would be most interesting to find out is if Pompey actually are paying his wages at the moment?

If so then why has he not been ordered back to training yet, move pending or not!

I guess I must end by saying that I have no physical proof that the Israeli is not training with us, I am just going on what The News said about him not back with us yet...

What an absolute mess, all these players being paid massive wages we can ill afford and not wearing a Pompey shirt. You could not make it up!!!

He is a Pompey player therefor under the normal loan rules Pompey have to pay his salary then invoice West Ham for the money. They can instruct that they do not intend to pay or fine a player. I'd be quite happy for TBH to be forced to come back and not paid but we already have the over paid, lazy, petulant child position covered.

So much for the club's era of openness. Why do we always have these guessing games?

Brown + Hughes + Ben Haim = £100k per week!! For what? Good old Storrie great contract negotiator.

Id rather him than Sonko/Moks but he probably has a clause saying he gets a pay rise and a contract renewal if he sets foot in Portsmouth again.

PS. whats the liklihood of him staying at West Ham now they loaned tosser Bridge?

    brown + hughes + benhaim + utaka + nugent + kitson + lawrence + + mullins + mokoena + rocha + kanu + herminator = 300 k a week 1.2m a month 14.4m a season that gotta be one of the highest wage bill in the championship . and its only 12 players which only 9 play 2 are over 35 .

Most likely the club want him off the books, whether it be to West Ham or anywhere. The issue comes with the rule that a player can only (be registered to) play for 2 clubs within one season. He has already played for West Ham and if the club were to use him it would be hamstrung by options. So there is therefore no point having him around if the club don't want him and he is not fussed about being there.
