Pompey Sign Defender Up

Dejan Stefanovic has signed a new contract which will keep him at the club until 2008.

Dejan said, 'We've been talking about it for a long time with my agent, Peter Storrie and Milan (Mandaric) and Alexandre (Gaydamak) and I'm really delighted to have signed,' he told the official website.

'A little while back there was a lot of speculation I was going to leave this club but I always said I was going to stay here for sure and this is the proof I am going to stay here for a long time to come.

'I've signed until 2008 and I'm delighted.
Everybody knows I like this club and I'm not interested in moving to another country or other clubs because I've settled down and because of Harry and all the other people here I'm still going to play for this club.'

Umm. Not quite the same player last season without De Z. Being captain on the pitch didn't work. Maybe he missed Harry early on & had a few injuries & at times we were sh1t. I do expect a lot more & if we get Sol it may help him. We will see.

he's an alright player for you guys though and could help you when you stay up

I agree with Storagematt - Dejan wasn't quite the same player last season, although injuries played their part. Personally I had Linvoy and Andy in front of him in the pecking order, and if Sol has joined ther will be an interesting scrap for places.....having said that, Harry will surely stick Linvoy on the bench at the start of the season as he invariably does.....

no he wasn't great but he loves the club

Yeah, he loves it so much les, that he couldn't give 100% for the club because he didn't get on with the manager. I think what you should of said is - "He says that he loves the club".

Glad he has signed a new deal but he must perform better than last season, he was hampered by injury and then thrown back in really so im sure he can get his form back from the season before.

Did a great job season before last and capable of another following a dip in form last season. Needed the rest at end of last term but will come out of the boxes come August. Pay to watch.
