Not for the first time Mikey Brown is being 'linked' with a move to Wolves.
Having missed out on Steve Sidwell it is being 'said' that Mick McCarthy has 'identified' Brown - if memory serves me correctly one of the clubs that wanted him when we signed him - as an option to 'beef up' his midfield.
Brown, and Richard Hughes for that matter, is not going to play for Pompey again so the sooner we can move him on the better it will be for everyone.
Although the problem is would 'moving on' actually be the best thing for Brown?
Quite clearly a pay cut would have to be taken for him to join Wolves, or any other club, but is this something that he is willing to do or will he be happy to sit out his contract with Pompey on 'above average' premier league wages and hope that a player in his mid 30s, having sat out 6-months worth of football, will be on someone's shopping list come the summer when his contract ends and he leaves on a free...
I cannot see us holding out for much money for his transfer, if indeed any - for either player for that matter - so, as said, I would 'think' it all boils down to how much they actually want wages wise in order to get a move.
Browny is someone, as said a few times, that I would like to keep as the simple truth that it is nothing against his ability, he offers a lot, but we just cannot afford to keep him and the sooner he moves on the better...
I still have the thought in my mind that some sort of deal might be workable, so long as his wages are right for Wolves, for such a transfer to form a part of the loan deal to bring Greg Halford back until the summer?
