Ritchie moves on - Swindon switch complete

As expected its been confirmed that Matty Ritchie has now left Pompey permanently.

Ritchie, who - if nothing else - at least got to play for his hometown team, has signed for Swindon, where he has spent the last 3-months on loan scoring 4 goals in 17 games.

David Lampitt said this to The Pompey Site: 'this is a good move for Matt and everyone at the club wishes him all the best for the future.'

I am, as many will imagine, disappointed but not in the least bit surprised as this was always on the cards - for me from the minute he left on loan it was 'unlikely' that he would return, it was virtually confirmed when he was given permission to play for them in the FA cup.

Yep, perhaps the guy is not the greatest footballer in the world, and in all honesty he does need to work on his physical strength a bit as he can look 'light weight' at times but I cannot help but think this is a move we could have resisted, then again we are at a 'needs must' stage.

The thing that gripes me most of all is the fact that Steve Cotterill has repeatedly said that he is not good enough for this level yet Carl Dickinson, who cannot have his determination and commitment questioned, is seen as a better option...

Hey ho, best of luck to Matty, lets hope that Swindon can secure promotion as it is 'said' that doing this would see us receive and extra £50,000 on top of what we have already and at this juncture literally every little helps!

Real shame has has gone. he was a good player and I think we will regret the decision to move him on.

This isnt a surprise is it, the manager wanted him out to subsidize the dreadfull Diqed. I hope there is a sell on clause, but I doubt it, that would be too sensible.
