'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Utaka's 'heart is firmly with Portsmouth FC'

The media grapevine was in overdrive yesterday with it 'said' that John Utaka was off to Turkey.

'Reports', emanating from Turkey, were saying that 'The Torpedo' was off to Konyaspor.

Although Utaka himself, on his website www.johnutaka.com, has ruled this out.

He said: 'I want to set the record straight after hearing a few rumours - I'm NOT moving to Turkish club Konyaspor, my heart is firmly with Portsmouth FC.'

Thanks to tomosbornemoto, who published a link in the forum - click here - to Utaka's website and his statement, which was posted at 10am this morning.

So, until the end of the season at least - unless he is moved on this month - Portsmouth Football Cash, sorry Club, will be in John's heart.

I wonder how much we will be in his heart when he is asked to slash his wages drastically in the summer in order to get a new deal here...

Money Money Money, ah well Clampitt has confirmed that the contract offers for Brown and Hughes have now been withdrawn so that ends that one!

Happy New Year Midge! I'm not that fussed about the contract offers to Brown & Hughes being withdrawn: 1, cos the club cannot be blackmailed; 2, Hughes was not worth a PL players salary let alone or 40k per month in this league ( remember it's the no power) and nor is Brown- too many suspensions. Happy for them to get that elsewhere if they can, me thinks they won't. DL had to stamp his authority over the manager and more importantly needs to demo that the CVA business plan is credible to creditors and possible buyer. Tough but hard facts, RussM will take 5th from bottom with a 4 point cushion; Pompey always seem to lose the last game. LL just needs to shut up.

I second that Russellm, LL is one of the higher earners so can't complain when we won't pay prem wages for average players. If he played for 10k a week then we could afford to keep these other players on!

Lets be fair to Utaka... He has find his feet at last, and that is why he is happy. anyway, who wants to go and play in Turkey??? I would do anything to re-sign Brown, but won't do the same for Hughes. Lawrence has been talking about this issue because as a player he feels we should be competing, and with the current squad, we surely can't!

Utaka's not perfect but this season Cotts has been able to get more out of him than previously seen and his workrate has been better than some (ginger) others for a start. He's no worse than the others. Cotts seems to be able to work wonders to a degree. Let's hope the finishing bucks up a bit

right on Moley; thanks for finishing off my point succinctly.
